The new L’Oréal campaign features a transgender model

 

Making this one of the first appearances of a transgender model in a mainstream beauty campaign, Hari Nef stars alongside Lara Stone, Blake Lively and others in the new L’Oréal Paris ad that features its True Match Foundation. The campaign showcases extended shade range of the foundation that is designed and suitable to every skin tone.

 “Now more than ever that simple phrase is a powerful reminder to us all, as women are coming together, rising up, and standing for their value. We are worth it. We are different shapes and sizes. We are different colours. We are beautiful inside and out. We are kind. We are brave. We are vulnerable. We are flawed. We are perfect. We are worth it,” said Blake Lively, who stars alongside Hari Nef in the campaign on her Instagram page.

Transgender models Lea T and Andreja Pejic have previously featured for Redken and Make Up For Ever respectively, but this is for the first time that L’Oréal Paris has featured a transgender model in one of its campaign.

In other news, beauty brands are also working to make their advertising as diverse to the customers- Both CoverGirl and Maybelline recently signed their first male brand ambassadors, marking an industry-wide shift towards inclusion.

We are all in for this diversity in the beauty industry and hope more brands begin to embrace this trend.
