Lakme Salon and ‘The Art of Latte’

by Arun Shirishkar

Lakme Salon in association with designers Gauri and Nainika presented ‘The Art of Latte’ collection at Lakme Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2019.

Giving hair and make-up as much limelight as fashion, Lakme Salon brought forth its ‘The Art of Latte’ collection with designer duo Gauri and Nainika. The evening of Day 2 at Lakme Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2019 witnessed the glamour and drama of a contemporary woman as the elegant colour collection was unveiled. Models sashayed down the ramp showcasing the freshly brewed looks from the new collection. While colour was centrestage here, the backstage artists had given equal weightage to cut and styling, too.

Fashion, form and finesse

The flowy silhouettes conceptualized by the designers underscored the  strength of femininity. The colour palette included shades of red, pink and blushing nudes interspersed with bold floral prints. Chiffon, crepe de chine, organza and micro crepe were the fabrics seen throughout the show. High-low dresses with signature floor sweeping trains, billowing organza sashes, and breezy wraparounds were the hallmarks of the collection.

Creative artistry

Lakme Salon’s backstage heroes delivered The Art of Latte collection to an eager audience. It complemented the fashion line beautifully. The models were seen wearing hues of coffee brews as their hair colour. The hair was interspersed with pops of colour – from deep copper to vivid berry tones, icy blues to gentle hazelnut highlights to create statement-looks.

The make-up looks channelled colour to create  drama on the ramp. The shades ranged from soft pink sweeps to electric blue, block orange eyes and coral lids – a nod to the Pantone colour of 2019.
