Be Ready For Lessons In Salon Management By Industry Experts

We have an impressive line-up of experts at Salon Management Congress 2022 for you. Here’s what they have to say about the conference.

Salon Management Congress 2022 is scheduled for 19th and 20th of September, at Hall 1, Bombay Exhibition Centre, Goregaon, Mumbai, alongside the Professional Beauty Mumbai Exhibition. To attend the conference, register here.

The conference will open with a discussion with dazzling industry personalities such as C K Kumaravel, CEO and Co-founder, Naturals Salons and Spa; Dr Blossom Kochhar, Chairperson, Blossom Kochhar Group of Companies; and Seema V Jerajani, Founder and Educator, SVJ Academy, on their individual professional journeys.

The first panel discussion will discuss the evolving business model post the pandemic under the topic ‘Salon Model 2.0 – How is the business evolving post covid?’ Our experts Ashok Paliwal, Founder, Prabhat Salon; Rod Anker, Founder, Rod Anker Salons; Nikisha Bhatia, Creative Head/Academy Director, Shyam’s Salon, Spa and Academy, Artistic Development Manager PD Sales, Streax Professional; and Gunjan Taneja, Executive Director of ALPS Beauty Clinics and Academy. These experts will discuss diversification of the product portfolio and service categories, importance of retailing, charging a premium to the client, etc.

This will be followed by a discussion on ‘Sustainable salons: Pipedream or viable business proposition?’ The panlists include Savio John Pereira, Founder, Savio John Pereira Salons; Shruti Jain, Founder, Kiahmoi Salon; Viki Thakkar, Owner and Founder, Viki Thakkar Design Studio; and Marisa Dimitriadis, Owner, The Spa Consultants, South Africa. They will discuss the nuances of creating eco-friendly salons and running it successfully.

Taking into account the topic of ‘Salons vs Home services: Sounding the thunder clap for the industry or opportunity to evolve?,’ Vandana Bhardwaj, Managing Director, Marie Claire Paris; Samir Srivastav, CEO, Jean Claude Biguine; and Rekha Chaudhary, Founder, Oneline Wellness, will share their personal experiences of these two formats.

“The salon and beauty industry witnessed unprecedented changes since 2020, challenging almost every rule in the corporate books. The salon industry, too, adopted its fair number of newer initiatives to ride this tide and emerge victorious. Whether it is tilting the scales towards digitisation or expanding horizons to incorporate newer verticals like home services, business today is characterised by relentless change. I look forward to participating in this fitting discussion with my esteemed panelists at Salon Management Congress,” said Srivastav.

In a standalone session, Gurpreet Seble, President and Founder, Nail Spa by Gurpreet, will present how to run a successful nail salon with insights from her vast experience.

The day will conclude with a thought provoking session on ‘Scaling up or exit strategy: Understanding the VC and investor game.’ Panelists for this session include Vikram Mohan, CEO, Bounce Salon; Pralay Bakshi, COO, Bina Punjani Hair Studio; Blessing Manikandan, CEO, Paulsons Beauty and Fashion Private Limited; and Vikram Bhatt, Director, Enrich.

Day 2 at Salon Management Congress will start with a session on ‘The Talent Game: training, development and retention.’ Panelists for this session include Pushkaraj Shenai, CEO, Lakme Lever; Vaishali Shah, Founder, LTA School of Beauty; Bina Punjani, Founder, Bina Punjani Hair Studio; and Natasha Naegamvala, Director, Nalini of Nalini and Yasmin Salon. Speaking about this session, Punjani commented, “A lot has changed post covid. And I am interested in the future of hairdressing and hairdressers. So I am looking forward to discussing this with my industry colleagues.”

‘No business like spa business: Understanding what it will take for India to have a spa industry on a par with global markets’ is the next topic of discussion. Our experts for this panel include Marisa Dimitriadis, Owner, The Spa Consultants, South Africa; Kiran Bawa, Co-founder, Iosis Spa; Leena Khandekar, Director, Lee’s Beauty and Spa Centre; and Sushmita Sarangi, Commercial Director, JIVA and Niu&Nau. According to Bawa, she is looking forward to this session “to create more awareness about the fastest growing industry; to encourage more women entrepreneurs to come forward and to be a part of this beautiful industry.”

Khusbu Malde, Co-founder and Operations Head,Hair Castle Salon and Founder, Hair Castle Digital Academy, will make a presentation on “To tweet or not to tweet: the salon challenge when it comes to social media.” She will talk extensively about Instagram marketing and give practical tips on how to make social media work for your business.

Highlighting the importance of sourcing, ‘Brand partner or vendor to the business – how to choose and develop a healthy relationship with your product partner for your salon’s success’ is the next topic. We will have Vaishakhi Haria, Creative Head & Director, Splash Salon; Kanta Motwani, Owner, Kromakay Salon; Pravesh Saha, Country Head, Wella Professional; Aankith Arorra, Owner, Streamline Services India; and Marisa Dimitriadis, Owner, The Spa Consultants, South Africa, as panel members.
