Salons have started reopening and operating across the country. Here are a few tips and tricks that can help salons maintain the highest degree of sanitation

The virus has caused a great amount of despair in the beauty and salon industry. The outbreak of COVID-19 caused widespread closures of salons across the country. India has now embarked ‘Mission begin again’, which has led to slow and systematic reopening of businesses across the country.

Re-opening of salons
The salon industry has also started with the process of reopening. Several state governments have eased restrictions and allowed salons to reopen. However, people in the industry have faced major losses due to the restriction on operations for almost three months. The reopening came as a relief, but not for too long.

Due to the several restrictions and guidelines that need to be followed by salons, they are unable to restart providing several services. Services like facials, threading, manicures, pedicures, nail services, spa services amongst others are high contact services. Due to which, it is difficult to carry out these services.

States like Maharashtra, have only given permission for providing hair services. Services like facials, manicures, pedicures, etc are generally services that have a higher profit margin. Here are a few tips and measures that can be taken while providing these services:

Manicure and Pedicure
Instead of providing manual massages, manicures and pedicures can be given using a foot massager with roller,s digital panel, self manicure machines. Cling film can be wrapped around the sinks and changed after every use. Using monodoses of products will also ensure higher levels of safety.

Threading
For threading new methods are now used, such as using thread lace, which is hygienic and convenient. Loop method of threading has also been adopted.

Facials and other skin services
Facials are the highest risk service, as there is maximum human contact. Salons can place an acrylic sheet between the beautician and the client to ensure distance between the two people. The beautician has to wear gloves at all times and use a fresh set of gloves for every new client. The sheets have to be changed and the area has to be sanitized after every client. Using monodoses of products will ensure hygiene.
