The first edition of Make Up Week, a two day long creative affair, kickstarted in Mumbai. Read on to know all about Day 1.

India is home to many talented make-up artists, who have established themselves in the home market as well as abroad. It is a rapidly growing community, with more skilled hands wanting to join in. To give aspiring make-up artists a platform to learn, explore and grow, The Professional Beauty Group organised Make Up Week (MUW) Mumbai, a first of its kind platform and an exclusive two day long event devoted to make-up. Make Up Week (MUW) was held 25th and 26TH March, at 18.99 Latitude Banquets at Kamala Mills, Lower Parel in Mumbai.

Day 1 begins
The MUW schedule had back-to-back educational sessions by the best of in the industry. Day 1 got underway as UK-based celebrity make-up artist, Armand Beasley, fantastically captured the attention and heart of the audience. The first session was by Zorain Khaleeli of Zorains Studio, who focussed on understanding the science behind makeup. She explained application technique, how to prep up the skin and make the make-up last long, while answering queries from the audience.

The second session was conducted by Amod Joshi of Ovi Academy, who showed the audience a live demo of prosthetic make-up and its techniques by creating a scary zombie-like creature on stage within 60 minutes. It was for the first time that a live demo of prosthetic make-up has been done on any platform. This afforded the delegates an opportunity to know the scope of their career and how they can explore different avenues.

Creativity at its best
The next session was by Sanah Hassan from Kryolan Paris, who created a bright and colourful look with blue eyes and glossy lips. She demonstrated the use of Kryolan products and give out handy tips on make-up.

The fourth session was by Sharon Knuiman from Make up Studio Amsterdam. She demonstrated a make-up look using the Pantone colour of the year – Living Coral. She created a stunning look with coral as the hero on the eye and lip, but also added a hint of burgundy to the eye for a smoky look.

Nykaa
The finale for Day 1 was an interesting interview with Armand Beasley by Kanishka Ramchandani, Digital Editor, Professional Beauty, on what it takes for a make-up artist to be a brand ambassador. Armand spoke about his own experiences and urged the delegates to explore and collaborate more.

Whilst the events were taking place, there was an exhibition next door at MUW, which had booths by brands like Makeup Studio, NYX Professional, Kryolan, Proarte and Nykaa. There was also a live demo zone for make-up academies. First half of the event was by makeup maestro Marvie Ann Beck and her team and the second half was done by the trainers from Asha Hariharan Academy.

Day 1 at MUW concluded with an excited batch of delegates and visitors making their way to the exit, with valuable lessons in their minds and selfies with make-up experts on their phones.
