From shimmery eyelids and luminous skin, everything on-trend was presented at the India Couture Week. Here are the major beauty highlights of India Couture Week.
The couture week was a stellar showcase of bespoke beauty with MAC Cosmetics as its official make-up partner. Ace couturiers from the likes of Shyamal & Bhumika, Sulakshana Monga, Rahul Mishra, Amit Aggarwal, Suneet Varma, Pankaj & Nidhi, Falguni & Shane Peacock, Reynu Taandon, and Gaurav Gupta presented a panoply of statement-making ensembles appealing to the bride of today. In terms of beauty, it was an esthetic mix of enchanting looks – designed by Sonic Sarwate (Global Makeup Artist) and Navreet Josan (National Artist) at MAC Cosmetics India. The week had celebrity showstoppers – Sara Ali Khan, Diana Penty, Malaika Arora Khan and Kriti Sanon gracing the ramp. Read on for the inspiration behind the trendsetting couture styles:
The gloss obsession
‘Glossy skin is in’ – was the key trick of the beauty team. Dewy, glowing skin shone on the runway with designers like Falguni & Shane Peacock and Suneet Varma giving us the major inspiration. A highlighted socket area with a dash of shimmer and a glossy pout stood out for Falguni & Shane show. While for Gaurav Gupta, the make-up team created a translucent effect with shimmer on the inner corner of the eyes. Other designers who tapped into the trend were Pankaj & Nidhi, using the highlighter dabbed all the way from the cheekbones to the temples and even Suneet Varma made beaming skin as the focal point of his runway look.
Sleek & Smooth
For Tarun Tahiliani, the skin was matte with the intensely kohl-rimmed smokey eyes. The look was an ode to the new-age bride who is not afraid of experimenting with her looks – while retaining the essence of traditions. Flowers ruled the look with an array of lip shades from deep reds to blush pinks to burgundy. In terms of hair, we spotted a variation in ponytails – be it sleek, high or low as well as another look featuring a chignon with flowers and accessories.
ICW wowed us with hair accessories – be it in the form of flowers or crystals. At Falguni & Shane Peacock, hair was adorned with crystals to create different dimensions on the ramp. Sulakshna Monga and Rahul Mishra opted for a chic centre-parted bun with a focus on hair accessories.
Perfectly crafted for the brides of today – both couture outfits, as well as the hair and makeup looks – the ramp at FDCI India Couture Week, was a window to the changing style sensibilities of luxury and elegance.
