“Learn today for your tomorrow” – Guy Kremer

by Arun Shirishkar

Guy Kremer is a name to reckon in the global hair fraternity. An award-winning artist with a loyal clientele across the world, Guy’s hairdressing style could be characterised as distinctive, elegant and chic. The French hair guru has a series of artistic and industry accolades to his credit – from styling Bollywood VIPs to performing on stage at hair shows and educational seminars

Guy is also an influential name for levelling up the educational standards in the hair and salon spectrum. The hairdressing icon was recently in India, for L’Oréal Professionnel’s LA French Look & Learn shows hosted in Mumbai and Delhi, to showcase the latest in hairstyles and colour.  Professional Beauty enjoyed an insightful conversation with the master hairdresser and here are a few excerpts:

How will you describe your association with L’Oréal Professionnel?
With L’Oréal Professionnel, I have been an international ambassador for many years and have really enjoyed working with them all around the world. We went to Japan, South Africa, Brazil, Saudi Arabia and more. For me, L’Oréal has been an amazing platform.

What trends would you recommend to the Indian hairdressers as well as consumers, in terms of cut, colour and styling?
The trend that you saw at L’Oréal Professionnel’s LA FRENCH Look & Learn was very feminine – bob and a little bit of wave, very uncombed, natural and effortless. And, the colours were done with the latest trends and techniques, ranging from balayage to contour, shine and tone-on-tone.

What advice would you give Indian hairdressers?
It is now time for the Indian hairdressers to go digital and get on social media. Instagram will soon move on to some other thing in the flick of a moment. Then there will be something else. It is important for hairdressers to grow their social media presence because it is a platform where their work can be seen and recognised.

Any suggestions for young hairdressers?
Dream, Excel and Succeed! That’s the motto of L’Oreal. Because, if you have a dream and you excel then you will succeed.

What are your plans ahead?
To carry on, but also to push the younger generation forward. I am enjoying my life by being creative. I don’t want to lose my creativity. You learn from yesterday, and today you are learning for tomorrow. All your past experiences are building you up for tomorrow. This is my motto.
