Beauty retailer Nykaa ties up with ELCA Cosmetics Pvt Ltd, a subsidiary of global beauty company Estee Lauder Companies, to open Aveda x Nykaa salons, a premium chain. Its first salon opens doors in Bengaluru, marking the retailer’s foray into the professional beauty industry.
Nykaa has been in news for various reasons ever since its launch in 2012, from introducing international beauty brands to India to launching its IPO. The beauty retailer is back making headlines, thanks to its tie-up with ELCA Cosmetics Pvt Ltd, a subsidiary of global beauty company Estee Lauder Companies. Together the two entities have launched the ‘Aveda X Nykaa’ salon in Bengaluru, with a focus on offering luxury professional beauty services.
Founded in 1978 as a cruelty-free brand, Aveda is known for its vegan hair, skin and body products and sold in over 45 countries.
ELCA Cosmetics Pvt Ltd and FSN Brands Marketing Pvt Ltd (a material subsidiary of FSN E-Commerce Ventures Limited) have tied up to enter the professional luxury hair care space, as per a company release. Estee Lauder Companies owns various global brands including leading hair care brand Aveda. The partners did not comment on the commercials of the partnership. The companies said the partnership will leverage Nykaa’s retail and Indian beauty knowledge and expertise of brand Aveda’s performance and clean beauty products. As per the official statement, Nykaa will run the operations of the salons and Aveda will bring training and expertise on hair care regimes and rituals. Two more salons are scheduled for opening this year. After Bangalore, New Delhi and Mumbai are the next target cities. Besides running the salons, the two companies said they will also focus on partnering with existing salon operators.
