For every party style you do, there is a happy at heart customer grooving away on the dance floor. Check out our list of trending hairstyles for 2019.
From Jessica Lowndes’ side braids to the sensuous side-swept locks of Jennifer Lopez and Deepika Padukone, there are a plethora of possibilities when it comes to defining hair goals for this year’s party season. Here’s your ultimate resource of inspiration to master the mane manual of 2019.
A rule of thumb: Treat your trends like a reference and your facial features and personality as a guideline for the best results.
The style check: Short Hair Length
2019 will revolutionise the way we look at hair trends. As predicted by the experts, this year is about super straight, short / one-length tresses, edgy bobs, and asymmetrical and deep side-part lobs. Giving us inspiration are a bevy of A-listers like Kylie Jenner, Kim Kardashian, Olivia Wilde, Jenna Dewan, Mila Kunis, Vanessa Hudgens, and Sandra Bullock, amongst others. Indeed, B-town beauties like Priyanka Chopra and Kangana Ranaut have also cleared a path for the short hair.
Lifting the game up high
Inspired by the retro era and celebrated names like Eva Longoria, Deepika Padukone, and Sonam Kapoor, a volumised low ponytail is set to be the standout style for 2019. Nicole Kidman’s high quiff ponytail at Cannes 2013 red carpet could be your best ref if edgy is your take.
Braids are your besties
Braids are setting the bar up for the ongoing party season. Classic dutch or fishtail plaits are absolutely perfect to rock the dance floor. While accounting on this, Sumit Malkotia, Creative Director at LOOKS Salon says, “Braid the locks. At times, long hair looks monotonous and by adding braids, it looks chic and trendy. Braids are the easiest solution because you don’t need any product or tool to make them. Practice braids by yourself in front of a mirror and see the power of braids.”
A classic blowout
If nothing works out in your favour, trust your blow-dried mane. The trick is to spray a volumising product for that perfect bounce. One can also tousle the ends for a natural finish.
Blowout your hair or add texture by tonging them; some colour will add to the texture. “According to your skin tone you can get a warm/cool colour, my personal favorites are light brown and dark blondes. Blondes don’t go well with every skin tone, so be careful and consult a professional,” says Malkotia.
Punk Sen, Technical Educator at Davines India, breaks down the 2019 moodboard by sharing that the long international layers with body and volume towards the end will be popular in terms of hair cut. “The year is dedicated to super edgy bobs, ” he says. In terms of hair colours, the palette varies from dark brunettes (with some lightness) to balayage and burnished bronze. While for hair styling, one can dress their locks into wet-looks waves, statement middle parts, sleek low ponytails, ’80s perm and crown braids with waves.
“This year, we have seen fashion shows with a variety of side partings, waves and low ponys. But, the most drool-worthy styles we have seen are oversized braids, messy braids, a side-parted french bun, subtle braids with a messy bun, fishtail ballerina bun, etc. One of my favourites is cornrow-bun — braiding at its best combined with dreads fashion,” he signs off.
