St.D’vence – bringing affordable luxury to the Indian doorstep

Mr. Yash A Hisaria, gives us an insight on his journey while sharing his experiences and mission for his company – St. D’vence

When was the company incepted & where is it based out of?
I started St.D’vence as a side project in 2015. However, after spending time at Harvard, meeting the biggest marketing managers and discussing the idea of building a next-gen skincare consumer brand back home in India, the entrepreneurial bug bit me and I decided to come back home instead of working elsewhere, and starting my own company full-time. So, we essentially started working full-time and scaling up St. D’vence from late 2017 onwards.

Briefly describe the USP of the brand?
The brand strongly believes in the ideology of luxury for everybody. We truly want to deliver super high-quality everyday skincare products that are both aspirational and accessible. We use naturally derived or plant-derived ingredients in our formulations, ensuring all products are free from harmful chemicals like Parabens, SLS/SLES, Mineral Oils, Phthalates, PEG/PG, OMCs and are 100% safe for use and are hypoallergenic. Also, we are a cruelty-free brand and do not test any of our products on animals and approved by PETA.

What was the inspiration for this concept?
We spent a lot of time intensively researching and analysing the luxury beauty market in India. We realised that even though these were quality products but were shockingly marked up in thousand percentage points or even more. With a vision to bridge this gap, delivering what was until now available only in the most developed countries of the world, and provide truly safe international quality products to Indian consumers, we launched our brand St. D’vence.

What is the Bandwidth of the company? – your network, your presence
Our moisturizers and perfumes are given to all first-class passengers on all Air India flight, on all international routes. Our products are being exported to countries like Senegal, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and South America and we are soon starting with Bangladesh and Thailand. We have our own 25,000+ sq. ft. state of the art manufacturing plant in Palghar, Maharashtra generating employment for over 50 people, especially women. We retail across every thinkable e-commerce platforms like Nykaa, Flipkart, Purplle and Big Basket to name a few. We are also currently present across Health & Glow stores in Mumbai, Pune and Bengaluru.

What is your mission for the Indian market and consumers?
At St. D’vence it is our mission to make high-quality, chemical-free skincare products available and accessible to the common man. We need maximum people to know that chemical-free skin care does not mean it has to be expensive.

Lastly, we would like to know about your ingredients, sourcing etc.?
Our ingredients are ethically globally sourced from their origins. We use 100% pure Moroccan Argan oil from women run fair trade cooperatives in Morocco. All our Carrier Oils are sourced from their origins: Avocado- Mexico, Wheat Germ Oil- USA, Olive Oil- Spain and so on. Also, we are actively developing products with Ingredients that are never heard of in India and are only available in the most unique places on earth solving very specific skin concerns.
