Trending Men’s Hairstyles

From picking up the correct style to maintaining it well, here’s a complete manual for men’s hair.

With a noteworthy number of haircuts for men, the season calls for disconnected undercuts with a part-combed slicked back styles. However, the quintessential quiff with low fade is flattering, too. Here’s a heads up on the best men’s hairstyling for the year.

The master take

Renowned Delhi-based hairdresser and creative director at LOOKS Privé Salon, Deepak Jalhan says, “The 2019 male hair trends are centred around short undercuts and crop cuts with a back-to-school vibe. They will also be ruled by the quiff with low fade as well as the textured curls. The best approach to nail them is the right styling with compatible hair products. For instance, try Clay Pomade for firm hold and matte finish.”

Regarding hair colour, Deepak says, “Play around with tints of brown and blondes depending on the client’s skin tone.”

From messy bed-head looks to super structured styles — there is a range of hairstyles to choose from. All you need to consider is your facial features and personal style. Agreeing to this, Vikas Marwah of Vikas Marwah Salons, shares, “Gone are the days when there were just a few choices in men’s haircuts. The trendiest hair patterns are low skin fade with brushed up fringes, high fade with pompadour look that would slay with a beard, and the textured crop. In terms of colour, the one trending would be ash blond highlights ranging from subtle sun-kissed to bleached out platinum.”

Star style
Takin a cue from Hollywood actor Michael B Jordan’s version of the undercut, it appears as though the current year’s runways have likewise been in agreement with the above-mentioned men’s hairstyles. The Black Panther star nailed the undercut splendidly at the 2019 Oscars. David Oyelowo and Nicholas Hoult also stood out in their sleek all-black suits and classic ‘dos.

Pleasingly, the runway shows of ‘Band of Outsiders’ and ‘E. Tautz Charlie Cullen at London Fashion Week Men’s (LFWM) A/W 19 also showcased effortless textured hair.

Ace hacks

‘Less is more’ is Deepak’s go-to conviction. “Avoid using too much of a product. Otherwise, the style can go out of the window,” he rounds off.

Vikas suggests keeping the hair and scalp clean. He says, “Use shampoo as per your hair texture, for instance, moisturising shampoo for dry hair, or colour-protect shampoo to maintain vibrancy. Ask your stylist for recommendations. While getting a haircut, keep your head shape in mind.” Finishing off with the pro hair cutting techniques, he concludes, “Opt for men’s blending shear-over-comb technique. Clipper cutting works best for creating low and high fades. With small size fine clippers, you can also create hair tattoos.”

In a nutshell
In spite of the fact that these styles are suited for a man whose grooming is on point, on the off chance that you are not enamoured with short hair or the undercut quiff, a long messy man bob can be your default style. The look can be mastered with a bit of TLC while leaving the artistry to your barber.
