Make-up education continued going strong on Day 2 of MUW as seasoned artists gave a lowdown on trends and techniques.
Refined make-up artistry continued on Day 2 of MUW 2019, on 26TH March, at 18.99 Latitude Banquets at Kamala Mills, Lower Parel in Mumbai.
Artistic vision
Day 2 rolled out with a session by the UK-based make-up artist, Armand Beasely using cruelty-free products. Armand stressed upon the need to create a niche for oneself. Using cruelty-free make-up was how he has established his brand equity in the market.
This was followed by a session with Strafford Braganza and Saloni Maathur of NYX Professional. A seasoned make-up artist, Strafford, and lawyer by profession, Saloni, presented a mermaid look, which revolved around the theme of Fantasy. Strafford gave insights on the NYX Face Awards. The Winner of NYX Face Awards 2016, Shreya Jain addressed the audience and shared her overall experience.
India-centric experience
Amsterdam-based make-up artist Sharon Knuiman of Make-Up Studio presented the perfect Indian bridal look next. The budding make-up artists in the audience were glued to this session as most of them were into bridal make-up.
Amisha Salunke of Amisha academy educated the upcoming make-up artists with the art of lighting techniques in make-up. This session emphasised on how lighting is one of the key factor in getting your make-up right.
Day 2 at the academy zone played host to MUD And Fat Mu in the first and second half of the day, respectively.
The Make Up Week 2019 was summed up with a panel discussion, which was moderated by Asha Hariharan, Founder, Asha Hariharan Academy and Beyond the Fringe salons. The panel consisted of experts who are the best in the business namely, Geeta Roy, fashion influencer and ex-Editor of Vogue; Rafique Sayed, fashion and film photographer; Clint Fernandes, celebrity make-up artist; Ritoo Jhha, Editor, Beauty Launchpad; and Priyanka Karunakaran, model, actor and Kingfisher Calendar girl; Shamita Singha, model; Vipul Bhagat, ace make-up artist. These experts educated the audience on how they can excel in this industry. The discussion ended with a great thought on how an artist needs to be authentic and true to his/her art.
Appreciating the maestros
The first edition of Make Up Week concluded with a felicitation ceremony. Seasoned artists such as Ambika Pillai, Cory Walia, Clint Fernandes and Vipul Bhagat were felicitated for their contribution to the industry. Make-up veteran from the South Indian film industry, Pattanam Rasheed, was bestowed with a Lifetime Achievement Award for his invaluable contribution to India’s make-up and film industry.
As MUW concluded, expert, delegates and visitors congratulated the organisers on coming up with this idea. They not only gave positive testimonials but also expressed their wishes to be part of the next edition of MUW.
