Acing The Glass Skin Makeup Look

The Glass Skin Makeup

Glass skin makeup is taking the beauty world by storm for all the shiny reasons. Originating from South Korea, glass skin makeup is all about achieving a flawless, radiant complexion. In a conversation with Vidhi Arya, celebrity makeup artist Rituu Gandhi throws light on how you can achieve a glass skin look at home.

If you are aiming for a luminous, smooth, and radiant look, then glass skin makeup is what you need. Glass skin makeup gives your face a clear, even complexion, and a smooth, glowing finish. The key to getting this look right is to prioritise skin care. Skin that is healthy on the inside shines on the outside.

Glass Skin Look Needs a Clean Canvas

The first step for this look is a clean face. Gandhi suggests, “Before starting the makeup, you must scrub your face, apply ice on your skin, and then prep it with lots of hydrating moisturiser.” You can do your regular skincare too as hydrated skin is essential for the glass skin look.

Prime Your Skin

To achieve that glassy finish, start with a hydrating primer. Look for one with a dewy finish that adds glow to your complexion.

Choose the Right Foundation for Glass Skin

For the glass skin look, opt for a lightweight, dewy foundation or simply tinted moisturiser. As Gandhi says, “A hydrating moisturiser is absolutely a must for a glass skin.” Apply it on areas that need coverage, and blend it well for a seamless finish.

Conceal Imperfections

Concealing any blemishes, redness, or dark circles with a creamy concealer to achieve a flawless glass skin appearance. However, be mindful and avoid overdoing it, as the goal is to maintain a natural look.

Highlight, Blush, and Contour

Rituu says, “The secret to a perfect glass skin look is cream-based products. Cream blush, cream contour, and cream-based highlighter will work best. These are the things that give you a lovely shine and glow.”

Set with a Translucent Powder

To prevent excess shine, lightly set your makeup with a translucent setting powder. Be cautious not to use too much. Rituu warns “A powder can take away from the finish of a glass skin look and can make you look cakey. The aim is to look natural and fresh, not matte.”

Achieving the trending glass skin makeup look requires a combination of skincare and makeup techniques. Using the right products, and focusing on hydration, you can achieve a flawless look. As Gandhi says, “The main thing is to hydrate your skin and prep your skin very well. When it is well hydrated, you glow from within.”
