An Eco-Friendly Holi Celebration at Kiahmoi Salon

The Mumbai based Vegan Luxury Salon, Kiahmoi, celebrated Holi in an unique eco-friendly style. Here’s an insight into their vegan and sustainable Holi celebration by Priyanka Parshurami.

Holi, the festival of colours, is celebrated not only in India but also around the world. This festival symbolises the victory of good over evil and the arrival of spring. However, the traditional way of celebrating Holi involves the use of water and chemical-based coloured powders. It has a significant negative impact on the environment.

Taking this in consideration, Kiahmoi, a vegan luxury salon situated at Bandra in Mumbai made a difference in their Holi celebration. The salon came up with a unique concept of Sustainable and Vegan Holi celebration. This pre-holi bash was celebrated at the salon on Sunday, 5th March 2023.

“With a little bit of awareness and some simple changes, we can celebrate Holi in an eco-friendly manner, while still embracing the festive spirit. From using natural, non-toxic colors to minimising water usage, to using vegan food and vegan Products in Salon. As a result we can celebrate Holi in a fun yet responsible way. And this type of Holi will be safe not only for the environment but also for your skin, Hair and health”, says Shruti Jain, Founder Kiahmoi Salon.

In the course of this vegan and sustainable pre-holi bash, there were group sessions. Where a group of friends come in to play games, do their services and have food and drinks on board. They also played Holi with organic colours. Kiahmoi served Vegan food, Vegan services, Vegan colours and Vegan drinks to all its clients.

Shruti further added, “We had to celebrate Holi in an eco-friendly way and enjoy the festival in harmony with nature. As a result we gave eco-friendly gift hampers to our guests and also used eco-friendly cutlery.”

Says she, “Even the food served was 100 percent Vegan like Quinoa Crackle and chocolate brands like Cara, Bean to Bark & Grabenord. By making small changes to our celebrations, we ensured that everyone enjoyed the festivals of colours at the same time preserving the environment for future generations to enjoy”.
