India Beach Fashion Week 2023, presented by Ikonic Professional, is a two-day event. It features the best of fashion shows, conclaves, musical performances and an array of pop-ups. Priyanka Parshurami brings you her first-hand experience into the day one of the event.
The ninth edition of India Beach Fashion Week (IBFW) 2023 started with a bang at Divar Island, Goa. The two-day event – 13th and 14th February – has been an amalgamation of beauty and fashion. The day one started with a curtain raiser from ace fashion designer Vikram Phadnis followed by Srishti Kaur, a young and talented designer.
Additionally, Ikonic Professional created the stunning model looks for both the shows. The brand is also the presenter of IBFW 2023. “This is our sixth year of being associated with Indian Beach Fashion Week. And Ikonic as a brand has a strong connectivity in the fashion industry. As hairstyling is all about fashion,” Rayed Merchant, Director SSIZ International said. “As we always say, what you wear starts with your hair. So, Iknoic and fashion are integrated together and there is no difference between them.”
Speaking to Professional Beauty India about creating two distinct looks for the ramp walk for Vikram and Srishti’s show, Cherag Bambboat, Artistic Director Make-Up said, “Since this is beach fashion week, we do have to keep in mind that every look has to be a little cheerful and not just glamorous. We wanted both the looks to be completely different from each other. And no repetitive element.”
“So, for Vikram’s show we decided on hair which looked edgy and the make-up as a neon green liner. The liner is complemented by a soft yellow ombre crease, and the lips are completely nude and flesh tone. Since it’s an evening and night show, the neon liner will have an amazing pop. As the lighting is going to be all red and orange,” he said, adding, “And for Srishti’s show we have done rhinestone work on the eye in the corner and the outer corner. So that I really pop and look reflective.”
Both the shows featured unique styles – not only for make-up but also for hair. “I personally feel every hair look should have one element which makes it stand out,” said Vivek Shyam Bhatia, Creative Stylist, Ikonic Professional. “To give each designer their own unique look we have added elements like bufo in Vikram’s show, adding golden foils for Srishti making each look phenomenal.”
Meanwhile, the day two of the event will witness runway shows from Mandira Virk, Gavin Miguel and Ken Ferns, Sasha Revankar, Swapnila, Ripci Bhati, Amit Bhardwaj, and Nishant and Preeti.
