Global CEO of Chanel, Leena Nair has been honoured with the Commander of the British Empire (CBE). The recognition awards her for her exceptional leadership in retail and the consumer sector. Leena Nair, the Global Chief Executive Officer of Chanel, received the prestigious Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) for her outstanding contribution to the retail and consumer sector. The British-Indian leader received the honour from Prince William, the Prince of Wales. The investiture ceremony took place at the Windsor Castle in the UK.
The recognition comes as part of the 2025 King’s New Year Honours list. It celebrates individuals for their exemplary service and achievements in the United Kingdom.
Get to know Leena Nair better
Born and raised in Kolhapur, Maharashtra, Leena Nair began her career in India. She rose through the ranks over three decades at Unilever. She made history at the company by becoming the first female, first Asian, and youngest ever Chief Human Resources Officer. In January 2022, she took on the role of Global CEO at French fashion house Chanel.
Beyond her corporate career, Nair has also held significant advisory and board roles. This includes serving on the Board of the Leverhulme Trust, as a non-executive director at BT Plc. She’s also working with the UK government’s Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy department.
