The renowned hair stylist, Darrel Starkey, recently showcased his Wig Mastery at an exclusive ‘Wig-hibition’ Event. The event showcased the talent of those who attended his wig creation and styling workshop. Here’s everything you need to know.
Darrel Starkey, a hairstylist with over 17 years of experience and a salon owner for more than eight years, recently decided to push the boundaries of his creativity and hairstyling. He ventured into the art of wig-making to meet the diverse needs of his clients and help his colleagues elevate their craft.
As Starkey recognised that there is a huge gap in hands-on wig education, he launched the ‘Wig-Torship’. The two-day mentorship programme aimed to educate hairdressers in the art of creating and styling wigs. The programme was more than just a technical course. It was an interactive and dynamic experience that was a testament to Strakey’s belief that ‘learning should never be boring’.
The Wig-hibition
To honour the artistry of wig-making and spotlight the incredible talent of his Wig-Torship students, Darrel Starkey hosted Wig-hibition. It was an exclusive event that took place on February 25th, at SE1 Studios. Several industry giants like Ergo Brushes and CloudNine supported it. This invite-only experience brought together top professionals, trade insiders, and budding hairdressers for an inspiring afternoon of creativity and craftsmanship.
The Wig-hibition was designed as a museum-style showcase. It offered a rare, up-close look at the intricately hand-crafted wigs created by Darrel and his students, who embarked on the course to master the fine art of wig-making. Guests immersed themselves in the story behind each piece through interactive exhibits, a dedicated wig booth, hands-on workshops, live podcasts, and exclusive behind-the-scenes video content, making it a truly dynamic and engaging celebration of the craft
