Depicting Emotional Hues with Hair Colour and Style

Human emotions are like hair colour. Which has different layers, colour, moods and expressions. A team of expert colourists curated ‘Colour Project’ depicting various hair colours and styles. Showing emotions and cultural connotations through hair colour. Gauri D takes you on a colourful journey of these vibrant collections.

According to colour theory, each colour assigns emotional and psychological connotations. It has the power to affect how one perceives, processes, and expresses not only base emotions but cultural norms. Colour therefore holds a powerful place in all art forms including the art of hair colour and style.

Hair colour is easily one of the most sought-after branches of beauty. Many experts in the field experiment daily with colour and its effects. Under similar assumptions, a passionate team of hair stylists and colourists came together to lead Project Colour. Here’s what came to life:

PROJECT COLOUR

A hair team in association with Stil Salon curated six unique and creative hairstyles. These hairstyles highlighted the critical role of hair colour in the appearance of humans. The Stil Lead Hair team included Christel Barron-Hough, Angelo Vallillo, Jessica James and Yolanda Douglas.

The project leader was Daniel Couch. The team composed of twelve expert colourists including Chelsey Stone, Stevie, Leah Loscombe, Stephen Cambell, Stephanie Dwyer, Sean Soerensen, Rosie Williams, Morgan Graham, Laura Kirton, Elle Foreman, Elisha Potter, Clare Cartwright, Allie Harknett.

STANDING OUT

Each of the hairstyles highlighted the hair colour in a new and refreshing way. Tones of red and electric blue were seen in leading roles in these hairstyles. Hairstyles otherwise rated as grunge popped out with unique hair colouring techniques. Hues of red and orange in sleek bobs and stressed carefree curls gave a new life to the hair and personality of the models. Each style was understated yet full of life, giving a playful appearance.

Multi-tonal  with pastel bands was a fresh take on pastel hair colour. Each colour represented the moods vividly in the wavy, unkempt, open-haired look. In one of the looks, just the fleck of coloured pastel on the forehead changed the entire look to interesting which would otherwise be tagged as boring.

Each hairstyle spoke volumes about the amount of expertise required to execute the colour and the styling perfectly. Mostly nude, understated makeup highlighted the hair very beautifully throughout the collection. The selection of apparel perfectly brought together the hair styling with the personality it represented.

Project Colour was extremely successful and passed the vibe check with flying colours!
