With an aim to see “the victory of science over time,” Dior has invested in the field of reverse ageing. Bringing together several researchers and experts, the fashion house has established a one-of-its-kind Reverse Aging Scientific Advisory Board. Vidhi Arya from Professional Beauty India explores how ‘Dior, the House of Beauty, is now also a House of Science.’
A new era of skincare that marries luxury and science to beat the effect of time has officially arrived. Dior, the iconic French luxury brand known for its innovation and elegance, has once again committed to pushing boundaries. The house recently launched its Reverse Aging Scientific Advisory Board. It was launched at the 21st Aesthetic and Anti-Aging Medicine World Congress in Monaco.
“Dior is making a bold entry into an unprecedented and defining scientific adventure. Guided by the ambition to leave beauty as our only legacy, we are convinced that the alliance of beauty and health is the key to a positive relationship with the passing of time. Dior has always been a House of Beauty, but today it is also a House of Science,” commented Claudia Marcocci, Brand General Director of Parfums Christian Dior.
Reverse-Ageing Research
More often than not, people resort to cosmetological processes and products to reduce the effects of ageing. However, people are looking for more sustainable methods that bring change from within. Dior recognises that skin health is a vector of our overall well-being.
Dior Science aims to analyse skin ageing’s causes, understand its mechanisms, and address the psychological aspect of ageing. This holistic approach shall aid to combat not just the visible impact of ageing but also the underlying causes. It changes the viewpoint and helps people view beauty as a stretch on the path to wellness. Thereby, it moves the status quo from Anti-Aging to Reverse Aging, while focusing on clear science.
Dior’s Reverse Ageing Scientific Advisory Board
The Board by Dior Science doesn’t just promise to halt the clock, it aspires to turn it back. It is a panel of 600 researchers from diverse scientific fields. The panel also includes 18 core science experts specialising in ageing hallmarks like inflammation, stem cell decline, floral science researchers, and ageing psychology. This collective brainpower aims to propel Dior’s skincare endeavours to combat the effects of ageing at a cellular level.
Dior intends to redefine ageing as a process that one can influence and even reverse, rather than an inevitable march towards wrinkles and sagging skin. This shift in the approach aligns with the modern mindset of embracing science to enhance the overall quality of life.
Way Forward for Dior
“Although many elements are yet to be corroborated and tested in clinical trials, we know today in which direction to proceed and which elements to work on in order to push the limits of science and make this scientific revolution a reality in the field of skincare,” says the company.
With new technology, a deep understanding of skin, and an application of science, expect the introduction of fresh reverse-ageing skincare products within the next four to five years. Products that will be “adding life and beauty to your years.”
