Get certified online with B&WSSC

Beauty & Wellness Sector Skill Council (B&WSSC) issues an online certification for the beauty and wellness industry to ensure they are up to date with the COVID-19 guidelines issued by them

The Beauty and Wellness industry in India is growing at a pace almost twice as that of US and European markets, making it the 10th fastest growing market globally. It is expected to double by 2020 and emerge as one of the largest job providers by 2022.

What is B&WSSC?
Established in 2014, B&WSSC is a not-for-profit organization promoted by National Skill Development Corporation, under the aegis of Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship. It has been entrusted with creating and nurturing an effective and efficient eco-system for development and imparting of skills for the Beauty and Wellness industry, including relevant curriculum courses, information database, delivery system, standardization as well as accreditation and certification processes, to enhance the employability of the Indian youth globally.

Since the inception, over 6,25,000 candidates, 65% of whom are women have been successfully trained to date for 16 different job roles, out of 22 QRC cleared job roles, under various Govt and Non-Govt schemes. More than 2,50,000 candidates have also been placed as self-employed /wage employment /freelancers.

Need for guidelines

Understanding the intensity of the COVID-19 pandemic and recognising the fact of knowledge and awareness as the only tool to tackle the virus affecting the human lives, B&WSSC has developed guidelines on health, safety and hygiene of the Beauty and Wellness industry, duly vetted by the medical fraternity to propagate social distancing and many such critical precautionary measures to keep the workforce safeguarded, post the lockdown. This initiative was even more imperative since the Beauty and Wellness industry is all about dealing in close proximity with humans while rendering services to their clientele. In order to reach out to mass recipients for better understanding, B&WSSC translated these guidelines in 2 National & 8 Regional languages namely, English, Hindi, Marathi, Gujarati, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Bengali, Punjabi, Oriya.

Online certification by B&WSSC
B&WSSC has launched a free online certification program for the Beauty and Wellness industry professionals such as salon managers, owners, beauty and spa therapists, hairdressers, fitness experts, yoga trainers and practitioners, technicians, other related staff. This program serves as a know-how test of the precautionary measures defined in the guidelines and enables the participants with improved knowledge and sustenance of the Health and Safety standards, post the lockdown as and when the industry opens.
