Health Department Proposes Ayurveda Wellness Centres In Kerala

 In a significant move to utilise the potential of Ayurveda, the Health Department of Kerala is planning to establish premium wellness centres in the state offering Ayurvedic treatments. As Health Minister Veena George unveiled this plan, she expressed the state’s commitment to promoting traditional healing methods.

Recently, at the inauguration of a yoga training centre at the Poojappura Panchakarma Hospital campus of the Government Ayurveda College, Veena George outlined the plans to elevate the Ayush sector into a global health hub in Kerala. This comes as a strategic move to highlight the benefits and importance of Ayurveda while also boosting tourism.

The initiative aims to cater to Indians and tourists from outside the country seeking authentic Ayurvedic experiences. Minister Veena George announced that the groundwork for these Ayurveda wellness centres in Kerala has already commenced. The state has already taken certain steps to include infrastructure development and staff training. 

Highlighting the growing significance of Ayurveda, Minister George underlined the potential for its development. She emphasised the need for extensive research in Ayurveda beyond treatments and wellness procedures. To ensure the quality of services, there will be standardisation measures in place across the Ayush sector.

The Key Milestones

NABH Certification

Minister George stressed that this certification would uphold specified quality standards applicable in the centres. The state’s efforts in quality control have led to a significant achievement, with numerous Ayush centres securing NABH certification.

Sophisticated Software System

The launch of various software under the National AYUSH Mission Kerala will help streamline operations and enhance efficiency. The management of the resources and training programs will be led by sophisticated software. Ayush medicine procurement software and Ayush Learning Management system software are a few to name.

The Road Ahead for Ayurveda Wellness Centres In Kerala

Currently, Kerala boasts 600 wellness centres in the Ayush sector. There are plans to expand further by establishing an additional 100 centres. The Poojappura Panchakarma Hospital in the capital will undergo enhancements to meet global standards, setting a benchmark for similar hospitals across all districts. Telemedicine facilities have also been integrated into several Ayush centres, enhancing accessibility to traditional healthcare services.

With this move Kerala that Ayurveda remains a cornerstone of the state’s healthcare system, catering to the needs of both local communities and visitors from around the world.
