From styling chairs to wellness sanctuaries—Indian salons lead the way for World Wellness Weekend 2025.
This September, India is set to take centre stage in the global wellness movement as it prepares to participate in the 9th edition of World Wellness Weekend (WWW), an international initiative celebrated across 160 countries. While spas and retreats have long dominated the wellness space, this year shines the spotlight on an unexpected but essential player: the salon.
Salons in India are no longer seen as just grooming spots; they are becoming recognised as daily sanctuaries where emotional, mental, and even spiritual wellness finds expression. This shift is being powered by salon leaders and communities who understand that every interaction whether a haircut, a hair wash, or even a conversation can hold transformative value.
At the forefront of this movement is the Beautiful Hearts Fund, founded by Blessing A Manikandan, CEO of TONI&GUY India, and a long-time advocate of salon-based wellness. “Salons have always been emotional anchors,” says Reena Sheth, WWW Ambassador for India & APAC. “We are finally giving that role the recognition it deserves.”
India’s presence on the World Wellness Map is growing stronger with each edition. From TONI&GUY India to Looks Salon and several independent brands, salons across the country are registering to host wellness-focused activities. These include mindful haircutting sessions, hair donation drives, self-care rituals, and mental well-being conversations offering more than beauty, they offer healing.
“For too long, stylists have been seen only as service providers,” notes Jyoti Gaglani, WWW India Ambassador. “But in truth, they are everyday wellness practitioners building confidence, providing care, and sometimes being the only listeners people have.”
This year’s theme isn’t just about participation, it’s about leadership. India’s salon industry is stepping into a new role on the world stage, showing how everyday beauty spaces can drive real impact in communities.
“Salons have always had heart,” shares Shweta Parekh, another ambassador for WWW India. “What’s new is the intentionality to elevate every visit into an experience of well-being. That’s what World Wellness Weekend 2025 is celebrating.”
With hotels, retreats, corporates, and now salons uniting for this cause, India is evolving into a wellness epicenter. It’s no longer just about treatments, it’s about touch, empathy, connection, and care. As the world watches, India is not only joining the conversation it’s reshaping it.📅 Save the Date: 19–21 September 2025
