James Robinson Speciality Ingredients launches Jarocare R25

James Robinson Speciality Ingredients (JRSI) has introduced Jarocare R25. Derived from the red lentil protein, it’s a natural bond repair solution. The company’s Biotome division developed this innovative ingredient, marking a shift in how we can repair damaged hair.

R25 stands out for its unique solvent-free enzymatic extraction process. It preserves key amino acids — lysine, arginine, and histidine—crucial for hair restoration. This is unlike conventional harsh hydrolysis methods that degrade these essential elements. R25’s gentle approach ensures their integrity, allowing for effective repair of broken bonds within the hair structure.

Rigorous testing confirms R25’s superior performance in repairing damaged hair. Tensile strength (Dia-Stron) and Differential Scanning Calorimetry analysis show up to a 25% improvement in hair strength, exceeding industry benchmarks. Advanced fluorescent tagging further verifies R25’s deep penetration into hair fibres, precisely targeting areas in need of repair.

With COSMOS Approval, Jarocare R25 aligns with the highest natural and organic cosmetic standards. Its biodegradable profile minimises environmental impact, making it an ideal choice for brands prioritising both performance and sustainability. Combining efficacy with eco-consciousness, R25 delivers scientifically backed hair repair while supporting greener formulations.

From the leadership desk

Dr. Daniel Brown, Research & Technology Manager at James Robinson Speciality Ingredients’ Biotome division: “Jarocare R25 represents years of research into plant protein chemistry and hair science. Our main goal was to create something that worked and delivered performance. The breakthrough came when we developed our own enzymatic method that maintains the functional integrity of key amino acids. This precision approach not only delivers superior bond repair but aligns perfectly with our commitment to sustainable chemistry.

Jennie Teague, Business Manager for Haircare at James Robinson Speciality Ingredients further adds: “Consumers are more attentive than ever to the ingredients that go into their hair care products, evaluating the naturality, sustainability and long-term impacts on our planet. Jarocare R25 has been under development by our biotech team for over several years, and we are thrilled that we’re now ready to launch this to the market. As an active ingredient for hair repair, it effectively meets the demands of today’s consumers while being backed by rigorous science.”
