What prompted the launch of Kohot?
Kohot.com is part of the Professional Beauty Group, one of the world’s leading media and trade show organisers for the aesthetics, beauty, hair, spa, and wellness communities.
At the Professional Beauty Group, we’ve always focused on supporting the growth of our communities. Traditionally, that has been done via trade exhibitions, awards and magazines. During the pandemic, when those activities closed, we could delve deeper into other ways to offer support. From our research with salon owners, we realised that recruitment or finding an organised way of hiring quality staff was a challenge that needed solving.
Driven by a passion and zeal to constantly support the growth and development of our industry, we designed and built Kohot with a clear vision: to solve the significant recruitment challenge, whether it’s a beautician or hairdresser finding a job in their nearest spa or salon or an employer looking to hire staff urgently.
Over the last year, we have been fine-tuning the touch, feel and useability of the app. What is critical for our community, is to make the user interface and experience as simple and intuitive to use as possible. We’re already working on phase 2 of the development of Kohot which aims to further meet this need for the community.
How does Kohot bring value to the Indian hair and beauty industry?
Kohot delivers value for the industry by being a simple, quick, and effective way for staff to find jobs and employers to find job seekers. Using smart technology as well as a user-centric platform, we have designed Kohot to solve the problem of providing job opportunities to tens of thousands of people in our industry by helping them build a digital professional profile, a career management platform, and access to the best industry jobs.
Further, with Kohot, employers can find the right staff for their needs as quickly as possible identifying professionals who are better qualified and better skilled to support their salon growth.
Over time we believe that having an organised and professional way of matching employers and talent will help drive standards and best practice in the industry allowing both sides to grow and prosper.
What are the future plans for the platform?
When designing Kohot, our North Star objective was to solve the challenge of career management for those working in the industry, whether a beautician, hairdresser, salon manager, educator, or salesperson for a brand or retailer, as well as helping employers find the right candidate for their business as soon as possible.
Our vision goes beyond simply job seeking and recruitment, to help individuals use Kohot as their online profile and career management tool where their achievements, qualifications, upskilling courses, work portfolios etc are all captured using the latest technology. And employers can find the right staff for their needs as quickly as possible, identifying staff who are better qualified, better skilled and showing a high level of loyalty to their employer and their growth. The focus is to drive up standards, bringing more transparency to the hiring and staff management process.
