Professional Beauty India 2026, powered by Beauty Garage, Day 1 kicked off at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi, on June 29. The day opened with back-to-back competitions, brand demonstrations, and business panels. Together, these spread across the venue’s barbering, beauty, hair, platform, and conference stages.
Modern Barber Challenge: Speed and Precision Took the Floor
The day’s barbering competition began with the Express Fade, a tightly timed 20-minute round that tested speed and clean technique under pressure. Next, competitors moved into The Modern Barber, a 45-minute full-haircut category with a clear brief. Specifically, the fade had to start from zero, and the final look had to feel commercial and salon-ready rather than purely conceptual.
Finally, the day’s barbering action closed with Beard & Moustache, a 40-minute category judged on grooming precision and shape. Throughout, a panel of jury members assessed each round immediately after competitors finished, keeping the format fast-paced all afternoon.
Beauty Stage: Bridal Looks and a New Product Launch
The Beauty Stage opened with Ozone’s session on skin and bridal glow, which doubled as a new product launch for the brand. Next, Recode followed with a signature makeup demonstration. Then, Shills Professional brought a vintage florals nail art session to the stage after the lunch break.
The afternoon moved further into bridal territory. Specifically, Malio presented a full bridal makeup look, while Skinora ran a session on sculpting, lifting, and skin glow techniques. Finally, the day’s Beauty Stage programming closed with a glass-skin makeup demonstration aimed at modern bridal looks, backed by Hilary.
Hair Stage: Brand Launches and Technique Showcases
The Hair Stage ran through a steady lineup of brand-led sessions. Ikonic Professional opened with its new Saga collection launch. Then, GYK followed with a session on nanoplastia and plex treatments, two of the more technically focused slots of the day.
Next, Beauty Garage followed with a dual demonstration covering both barbering and cut-and-styling techniques, while STREAX presented its upcoming hair collection for 2026-27. Krone then closed out the pre-lunch stretch with a session on hair smoothening science. Meanwhile, Iramo Professional and Vega Professional rounded out the afternoon with sessions on hair colour and creating long-lasting volume. Finally, K18 closed the day’s Hair Stage programming with a look-and-learn seminar.
Platform: Independent Artists Took the Spotlight
The Platform stage, dedicated to beauty on day one, gave individual makeup artists room to showcase their personal styles outside of brand sponsorship. Pooja Madaan opened with a modern signature look. Next, Kaveri Singh presented a carnival bride concept, followed by Eshita Gambhir’s rhinestone-heavy glam look.
After the lunch break, Mahima Bajaj presented a session specifically focused on makeup techniques for vitiligo skin, a notable inclusion on the day’s lineup. Then, Yashika Sehgal followed with a cocktail makeup look, while Bhawna Singh closed out the bridal-focused slots with a Bollywood bridal demonstration. Finally, the day wrapped with a premium barbershop experience presented jointly by Prathamesh Sawant and Joel.
Salon Management Congress: Business Panels Opened the Conference Track
Alongside the demo stages, the Salon Management Congress opened its first day with a welcome address and diya lighting led by Vikas Vij. This set the tone for a day focused on the business side of the beauty industry.
- The first panel, The Real Salon Business: Costs, Cash Flow & Survival, brought together Dr Bharti Taneja, Ankit Virmani, Manisha Yadav, and Disha Mehr. Together, they discussed cash flow management, the impact of discount culture and aggregator platforms, and whether retail sales remain an underused profit driver for salons.
- Next, the second panel, Smart Salons: Scaling Without Losing Control, featured Sachin Manchanda, Siddhanth Dua, Radhika Goyal, Raghav Bhambri, and Prannay Dokkani. They discussed common mistakes salons make while expanding to multiple locations, along with the growing role of software and data in supporting that growth.
- Then, a third panel, The New Indian Client: Who’s Spending and Why, examined the generational divide in client behaviour. Panellists Isha Mahabal, Richa Agarwal, Karan Deol, Chandni Sachdeva, and Vikas Marwah weighed in on Gen Z’s price sensitivity against older clients’ loyalty-driven spending patterns.
- After the lunch break, the fourth panel, Marketing & Retail Strategy: Turning Footfall into Revenue, brought in Biju Nair, Amar Sachdeva, and Rachit Malhotra. They discussed how salons can move beyond discount-led marketing and track ROI more effectively. Finally, the day’s last panel, Building the Modern Salon Team: Hiring, Training & Retention, closed the conference track with Varun Attri, Sangeeta Chauhan, Rehman Arfi, and Shubham Virmani. They discussed how salons can manage Gen Z staff expectations and build genuine career paths within the industry.
Overall, day one wrapped with the barbering floor still buzzing and most of the Salon Management Congress panels having run well over their scheduled time. This signalled how much the business-side conversations resonated with attendees. With the competition format and demo lineup now set, day two picked up where day one left off.\
