After winning hearts in Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, and Lucknow, Marie Claire has now opened its first Mumbai branch, right here in Matunga. Naturally, we had to drop in and experience it firsthand.
Read on as I walk you through my visit to Marie Claire Salon. This hair spa treatment gave my hair the tender loving care it deserves in this environmental situation.
Walking Into Marie Claire
From the moment I stepped in, the staff gave me a warm welcome. The space felt therapeutic with the interiors leaning into soft florals and cheerful yellows, a combination that does something to your brain chemistry the second you walk in. It’s the kind of space that seems designed to remind you to slow down.
The Consultation
Manoj Pawar, the salon’s Creative Director, guided me through the entire experience. He started with a proper, in-depth consultation. Rather than jumping straight into a treatment, he worked through a detailed consultation form. This covered my current shampoo, scalp sensitivity, hair-wash frequency, heat styling habits, and any past chemical treatments or hair colour history.
This detailed, personalised hair diagnosis stands out from a generic, one-size-fits-all treatment. Once he had painted a clear picture of my hair type and concerns, he walked me through a few suitable options from the salon’s treatment catalogue. He explained what each one targeted and why.
Trusting his expertise, I settled on the deep hydrating luxury hair spa. It fit perfectly, given my hair housing a warzone with frizz, dryness, and hair damage. He assured me this treatment would nourish my hair, hydrate it deeply, and bring the frizz under control.
Step One: The Wash
The treatment started with a rejuvenating hair wash. Manoj used the Moroccan Oil Frizz Control Shampoo to cleanse the scalp thoroughly and lay the formula for everything that followed. The wash itself felt like a breath of fresh air. It eased me into the calm before the calm, the rest of the session promised.
Step Two: The Mask
Next came the part I was most looking forward to: the hair mask. Manoj chose the Moroccan Oil Restorative Hair Mask and blended in a bit of the Moroccan Oil Treatment for the texture and nourishment. He carefully divided my hair into sections. This ensured the mask covered every layer evenly, from roots to ends.
Step Three: The Massage
The mask was left to sit for five to ten minutes, letting the formula work its way into each strand. He then followed with a scalp massage that was worth a vacation. It was the kind of massage that quiets every racing thought in your head, a gentle hiatus healing all the wearisomeness.
Step Four: The Steam
From there, we moved into a steam session. Steam opens up the hair’s cuticles and lets the mask’s nourishing ingredients penetrate far deeper than they otherwise would. A final rinse washed away the mask completely. My scalp felt clean and soothed.
Step Five: The Final Flourish
For the final flourish, Manoj applied the Moroccan Oil Frizz Control Smoothing Lotion as a heat protectant. He then blow-dried my hair section by section, defining and shaping my natural waves.
Frizz and I have always crossed swords, and I had made peace with it up until this spa. This session felt like locks of luxury. It proved that good hair days can be had by simply treating yourself to a good hair spa. The entire treatment took around 45 minutes to an hour. The mirror didn’t lie; my hair felt soft as feather-down, with a texture so visibly transformed that the difference was impossible to miss and swoon over.
Thanks, Marie Claire, for having us and treating us to an experience this good.
