Welcoming Curtain Bangs as They Trend All Over Social Media

People have had a love-hate relationship with bangs for a long time now. However, with changing trends, a newer version of bangs has come to light. The curtain bangs are in vogue and are being loved by all on social media. Vidhi Arya from Professional Beauty India breaks down what they are all about.

From top A-listers like Priyanka Chopra and Jahnvi Kapoor to social media influencers and even your girl next door, people are in awe of curtain bangs. Imagine two curtains drawn towards the sides of a window. That’s exactly what these bangs look like. Unlike the classic bangs that fall straight across the forehead, curtain bangs frame the face. While they are shortest in the middle, the hair gets longer towards the side, softly framing the face.

The Best Suited Face Shape

Curtain bangs are suited for most face shapes and hair types. Since it frames the face, the haircut has a slimming effect. Hairstylist Shine Janarthanan explains, “Curtain bang is the best way to contour the face shape. The haircut is suitable for most face shapes like round, oval, heart and oblong. Mostly it’s worn with a centre parting to give a drawn curtain appearance as the name suggests.”

Do’s and Don’t to Keep in Mind

Janarthanan suggests some tips to ensure that the choice of getting curtain bangs does not backfire.

  • “The ideal shortest length for these bangs would be the tip of the nose and then gradually going longer towards the sides.
  • Curtain bangs are best for those with a middle parting or with a free-flowing parting. Those with a rigid off-centre parting can avoid the haircut.
  • They look amazing if the hair flows freely. Those with a strong front hairline growth pattern or a cowlick should steer clear of this cut.
  • The haircut is ideal for straight to soft wavy hair as the maintenance and styling required will be none to minimal.
  • If someone has a very wavy or curly hair texture, they can skip this style. Since they might not sit well in natural texture. Those with waves and curls will require extra upkeep and will have to blow dry their hair often for smooth curtain bangs.”

Styling And Maintaining Curtain Bangs

Whether one leaves their hair open, ties it up in half-do or makes a pony, or even a bun, curtain bangs look great. They have a romantic flare and add a gentle feminine touch to the look.

Maintaining fresh, healthy-looking bangs may require scheduled visits to the hairdressers. As the bangs will grow out every 4-6 weeks, they are likely to start merging with the rest of your hair, to have them looking fresh, stylists suggest regular trims.

Furthermore, curtain bangs may require styling through blow drying to keep them looking crisp and in place. Blow drying the bangs towards the side will add volume and make them look flowy and fresh.
