What’s IV Drip Therapy?

Dr Prachi Bodkhe, Dermatologist, Envi Aesthetics, gives Kanishka Ramchandani a low-down on IV Drip Therapy which is all the rage in aesthetic beauty.

IV Drip Therapy is a revolutionary treatment designed to deliver essential nutrients directly into the bloodstream for rapid absorption and maximum effectiveness. This breakthrough approach enhances skin health, boosts immunity and promotes overall well-being.

Dr Prachi Bodkhe, MD Dermatologist, Envi Aesthetics demonstrated glutathione and vitamin C infusion and explained how this specialised treatment delivers its powerful benefits.

The science of it

Unlike traditional oral supplements, IV therapy bypasses the digestive system, ensuring that nutrients reach cells faster and in higher concentrations. The infusion process is smooth, painless, and tailored to individual needs, providing a holistic approach to beauty and wellness.

  • Glutathione infusion: Known as the ‘master antioxidant,’ Glutathione helps brighten and rejuvenate the skin, combat oxidative stress, and promote detoxification.
  • Vitamin C boost: Essential for collagen production, this infusion enhances skin elasticity, supports immune function, and improves overall skin tone.

Personalised and safe

Before every IV treatment, Dr Bodkhe conducts a comprehensive medical evaluation to assess suitability, ensuring a safe and effective experience. The entire process, from consultation to infusion, follows strict sanitisation protocols and is performed by trained medical professionals.

Envi Aesthetics goes beyond skincare, offering a diverse range of IV therapy solutions tailored to various health and lifestyle needs, such as multivitamin drips, hangover recovery drips and hair fall drips.

We had a chat with Dr Bodkhe to understand the IV Drip Therapy in more detail.

Here’s an excerpt from the interaction:

How often should this treatment be taken?

I personally recommend to have a gap of 10 days at least between two sessions. I usually keep a gap of 15 days in between regular sessions, and take 6 sessions, depending on the result that I want to achieve.

What concerns does the drip address?

The drip goes at the cellular level. One of the main concerns it addresses is detoxification, which results in improved skin texture, skin tightening and collagen building as well as changes in the skin tone.

What is a cocktail infusion?

A cocktail infusion is a mixture of two drips such as glutathione and vitamin C. It’s better to have at least one constant product in all the six sessions. And you can always alter the micronutrients. If the person is feeling a little tired, I will do a little modification to suit their needs.

How long is an average IV drip session?

It is approximately 45 minutes to 1 hour. I usually do the first session over a period of 1 hour 15 minutes, because even if you have done infusions before, you might react to the product differently because of the immediate consequences.

Any pre- and post-treatment dos and don’ts that you would like to recommend?

I advise the patients to go minimum on supplements before the treatment as I am infusing other supplements along with the main ones. It is important to always tell your doctor which supplements you are currently using.

What are the contraindications for the IV Drip Therapy?

Pregnant women, lactating mothers and people running a high fever or other medical conditions. It is important to treat your medical conditions first.
