International celebrity makeup artist Armand Beasley dissects the mesmerising Oscar red carpet looks of Angela Bassett, Florence Pugh and Cara Delevingne.

The 95th annual Oscars, which is considered the biggest night on the Hollywood calendar, featured a glamorous ceremony. Where numerous A-listers donned exquisite evening attire. Once again, this year’s high-profile event lived up to its reputation. It showcased some of the most impressive Oscar looks to date.

Armand Beasley, international makeup artist, stylist, actor and presenter, discussed the captivating appearances showcased at this year’s Oscars. Moreover, he meticulously analyzed the splendid looks of several actresses at the awards event. “Old School Glamour was in full effect at the 95th Academy Award,” Beasley said of the glamorous event.

“As a makeup and stylist who has worked at the Oscars it’s very much a collaborative affair to get these stars ready for the Red Carpet, working closely with the fashion & jewellery designers, agent/publicist and celebrity,” he added. “Nominated actress Angela Bassett looked stunning with a Rita Hayworth style blow out and swathed in a purple Moschino gown.”

He then continued, “I liked the simplicity of her makeup copper and shimmering nudes on the eyes with a mauve satin lipstick. Full set of lashes and naturally defined brows with a glowing complexion complemented the look. I always maintain that the art to great makeup is to make the individual look great and enhancing the overall look without dominating.”

Florence Pugh

Speaking of actress Florence Pugh’s look, Beasley said that the Marvel actor was inspired by “Audrey Hepburn with signature bold elven style brows and a quirky updo that created micro bangs. Her look has an edgy elegance to it. Red lips are always a winner on the red carpet…or in this case…Champagne Carpet, with Michelle Williams and Rihanna looking striking, although I didn’t care for Riri’s outfit and hair.”

Cara Delevingne

“Model turned actress Cara Delevingne looked sensational in a crimson Elie Saab Couture gown with dramatic coral smoked out eyes & muted mauve lipstick. I thought the hair really complimented the look with sleek side parting and neat low bun. Bulgari jewellery completed this show stopping look. Of course , my attention was firmly on the category ’Best Hair & Makeup’ with artists Adrien Morot, Judy Chin and Annemarie Bradley winning for The Whale. Their work with prosthetics on transforming star Brendan Fraser is exceptional,” Beasley further added.
