Exploring Minimalistic Bridal Makeup with Sneha

GEHWOL, The First Medical Grade Pedicure is Now in India

Over the past two years or so, we have all witnessed a major shift in bridal makeup trends. At present, everyone is loving and opting for minimalistic bridal makeup. Owing to their natural beauties, B’town stars like Kiara Advani, Parineeti Chopra, and Yami Gautam, all wore minimal makeup for their big day and looked absolutely gorgeous.

In a conversation with Makeup Artist, Sneha Bhowmick, let’s find out her views and take home some helpful tips about minimalistic bridal makeup.

1. What is the minimalist makeup for brides all about?

Minimalist makeup is an art or technique where we can achieve the desired bridal beauty with less usage of products. Or, by using products in a much smarter way to create a great impact.

Minimalistic makeup provides a fresh and dewy glow for long hours. The aim is to highlight the natural features without contouring them much and converting the bride into someone else. Minimalist bridal makeup is ideal for brides who want lightweight and breathable makeup. Further, it is perfect for those who are comfortable in their skin.

I love this trend and so do my clients and brides. Seeing them embrace their natural features and feel confident and beautiful from the inside is what makes me happiest. I am very passionate about making each client feel fabulous in their skin. Hiding them under layers of foundations and contours and converting them into a porcelain doll is something I don’t prefer.

2. When it comes to doing minimalistic makeup, what is the element that brings out that extra special wedding look?

The element that brings out the special effect of the bridal makeup is good skin. My advice for all brides-to-be is to fall in love with your skin. To take extra care of your skin, you need to check four major points. This includes skin care,  proper diet, sleep, and exercise. If you have any skin issues like acne, breakouts, pigmentation, facial hair, open pores, or textures, you must visit a dermatologist, take proper advice, and get the treatments. But please, do not use random products on your skin. Test and try each product else you might get more breakouts near your D-Day.

Good skin is always important for a minimalist bridal look, if you don’t want to hide those textures and acne under layers of foundations. So, good skin is the element.

3. One mistake to avoid while opting for minimalistic makeup for a bride?

One should never avoid proper skin preparation before applying makeup. It is important to prepare the skin properly according to the client’s skin type. This is because it helps an artist to glide their cream products like foundation, cream contour, and cream blush into the skin very beautifully. It helps with seamless-looking makeup without any patches and dryness.

4. What bridal trends do you predict in the future?

So the concept of looking natural glam will be in trend. Brides will opt for more minimalist makeup in the coming days. I believe, they may go for monochromatic eyes, less fuller eyelashes or dramatic eyelashes and more natural lashes. They may not opt for blocked brows but rather for natural brow shaping. Lips can play a major role. Lips may be nude with a gloss on top and the blush will again be minimalist, enhancing their features. The less of contour and this is what I can see in the coming days in our bridal makeup trends.
