Antoinette Beenders And Jorge Cáncer at the HJ’s British Hairdressing Awards

Antoinette Beenders, Aveda Senior Vice President and Aveda artist Jorge Cáncer clinched the esteemed title of International Collection of the Year at HJ’s British Hairdressing Awards. BHA was sponsored by Schwarzkopf Professional. The results of this highly competitive event were unveiled at a red-carpet ceremony on Monday, November 27th, at the JW Marriott Grosvenor House, London. They outshone five other finalists in the category; showcasing exceptional technical and creative prowess through photographic collections.

This dynamic duo emerged victorious in the renowned awards surpassing entries from around the world. British Hairdressing Awards are often likened to the ‘Oscars’ of the hair world. Antoinette expressed her joy, stating, “It feels amazing to win this award. It’s been 20 years since I’ve been here, so it’s very emotional. We’d like to thank Aveda and all the people who worked with us on this shoot – what a dream team. To anyone thinking of entering next year, we’d say go for it. When you love what you do, it’s such an amazing process to explore your creativity. A huge congratulations to all the winners.”

WELL EARNED TITLES

The award ceremony, now in its 39th year, celebrated the outstanding creative and technical skills of top stylists in the industry. It featured regional categories and specialist awards. The ultimate accolade of British Hairdresser of the Year went to Cos Sakkas. Cos Sakkas is a Creative Director and Head of Education at TONI&GUY.

Schwarzkopf Professional is the sole sponsor since the event’s launch in 1984. The brand expressed honour in spotlighting the industry’s greatest talents. Julian Crane, General Manager for Henkel Consumer Brands Hair Professional UK & Ireland, commented, “Our winners have wowed us with their passion and skill and should feel incredibly proud of their achievements.”

WINNER’S LANE

The Specialist Category Winners for 2023 include Cos Sakkas, Eugene Souleiman, Melissa Timperley & Sara Williams. Other notable names were Mark Leeson Artistic Team, Darja Laett, Sam Elliot, Lucia Siero Hernández, Suzie McGill, and Elyse Pointon.

Regional Winners for 2023 cover various categories across different parts of the UK. It recognises and celebrates the exceptional talent in the field.

The Hall of Fame acknowledges individuals who have won the same category three times, including Caroline Sanderson and Steven Smart.
