Halal nail polish is becoming increasingly popular among Muslim women. It is also popular among women preferring more natural and eco-friendly beauty products. Trove & Trendy Gel Polish launched India’s 1st Halal certified Gel Polish this April 2023. In an exclusive conversation with Priyanka Parshurami, Kavita Sharma, National Sales Head, Grey Trendy Professionals, spilled beans about this unique concept. They also spoke about the formulation and production process of India’s India’s 1st Halal certified Gel Polish.
Halal gel polish is formulated to be water-permeable. A special formulation allows water to pass through the polish and reach the nails. This typically involves using a thinner layer of gel polish. This is followed by the addition of a special ingredient that makes the polish more porous.

Many cosmetic companies now offer halal nail polish as part of their product line. There are also independent brands that specialize in halal cosmetics.

Time Frame of the project:
- It usually takes us a minimum of 6 to 8 months after its ideation and before we introduce any new product in the market, be it for Nails or Lashes or Brows.
- The R & D process and creating samples requires major time. As the formulation is executed in France.
- The test is done by our internal team on technical as well as quality aspects of the product.
- Then we apply for licenses, international certifications and approvals.
- Once all such international certifications and approvals are in place then it is introduced in the market.
Difference between Gel Polish and Halal Gel Polish:
- We have our gel polishes brand T & T Gel Polishes in the market which is a normal gel polish.
- The main difference between halal gel polish and normal gel polish is that halal gel polish is water-permeable, while normal gel polish is not.
- Normal gel polish forms a hard, impermeable layer that prevents water from reaching the nails. This can be problematic for Muslim women who need to perform their prayers, as the gel polish can interfere with the washing process.
- Halal gel polish may also be free from certain ingredients such as animal-derived ingredients like carmine and keratin.
- It may also be free from other potentially harmful chemicals like formaldehyde, toluene, and DBP.
Application and Price Range:
- Its application is similar to the other Gel polishes application.
- One has to apply a thin layer of gel polish coat on nail extensions.
- We have priced it reasonably at MRP 799/- but currently running a launch offer of Rs. 499/- only.
