Taj Surajkund expands its sustainability efforts

Taj Surajkund Resort & Spa strengthens its sustainability journey by installing a 50kWp solar power plant. With this, the brand combines luxury hospitality with clean energy, water conservation, and eco-conscious guest experiences.

Taj Surajkund Resort & Spa, Delhi NCR, has taken a significant step towards sustainable hospitality by installing a 50kWp solar power plant. The initiative reflects the brand’s continued focus on reducing environmental impact while maintaining high standards of guest comfort.

The move aligns with IHCL’s Paathya framework, which guides responsible growth across its hotel portfolio.

The solar power commitment

The newly installed solar power plant is expected to generate approximately 73,000 kWh of green energy every year. Over its lifetime, it is projected to produce nearly 1.82 million kWh of renewable energy.

This transition is aimed at lowering the resort’s dependence on conventional energy sources and reducing its overall carbon footprint. The initiative also supports long-term energy efficiency and future-ready infrastructure at the property.

Sustainability integrated into the guest experience

Guests staying at Taj Surajkund will now experience sustainability as a natural part of their stay. The resort has introduced an in-house water bottling plant that produces around 1,000 bottles daily, each with a capacity of 500 ml.

This initiative significantly reduces reliance on externally sourced packaged drinking water while ensuring product freshness and quality.

Green mobility has also been incorporated into the guest journey. The resort has installed three electric vehicle charging stations within the premises, encouraging cleaner transportation choices for visitors.

Water conservation and waste management

Beyond solar energy, the property has implemented multiple water conservation measures. Sewage and effluent treatment plants support a combined water treatment capacity of 350 KLD.

Recycled water is reused for irrigation and cooling towers, reducing freshwater consumption. The resort has also built four rainwater harvesting recharge pits to support groundwater replenishment.

Turning waste into resources

Organic waste management is another focus area. A 250 kg-capacity organic waste composter converts food waste into manure, which is used for horticulture across the property.

This closed-loop approach helps reduce landfill waste while supporting green landscaping practices.

With these initiatives, Taj Surajkund blends luxury hospitality with responsible practices. Guests can enjoy the signature Taj experience while knowing their stay supports clean energy, efficient resource use, and long-term environmental care.

The resort continues to demonstrate how premium travel and sustainability can work together seamlessly.
