Who doesn’t love the freshness of a popping blush on their face? In the midst of this unanimous praise for blushes, a new technique is going viral on social media. As the sunset blush is driving the beauty community crazy, Vidhi Arya from Professional Beauty India explores what it is all about.
The sunset hues are truly enchanting, filling up the sky with unmissable beauty and the viewers with awe. Now, if only there was a way to replicate these mesmerising hues on our faces to achieve another awe-inspiring look! Lo and behold makeup enthusiasts, it exits and it’s trending.
The sunset blush look is not our regular “natural flush of colour” look. It’s a bold look that makes a statement with popping colours and a glistening sheen. The sunset blush is a look that entails creating a unique, bright gradient of blush using the colours of a sunset. This look was highlighted and brought to fame by the beauty content creator Alissa Holmes (@alissajanay1).
Let’s find out in detail how to achieve this look.
To achieve this look, you’ll need:
- A primer
- Two blushes; one slightly darker than the other
- A liquid highlighter
- A setting spray
How do you pick the shades of blush?
Cool-toned blush shades will be apt for someone with cool undertones. And, similarly, warmer shades of blush will be a better option for those with a warm undertone.
Step-by-step guide
Step 1: Apply your base makeup
Start by applying a base to achieve flawless skin. If the aim is to achieve a natural, toned-down look, skip foundation and just spot correct or use a tinted moisturiser.
Step 2: Dot on blush
The main part of this trend is to dot the blush. Leave a bit of the space below the eye and below that start applying the dots. In one line, apply two dots of the darker hue on the temples and two dots of the lighter hue near the apples of your cheeks. Don’t blend for now.
Step 3: Time to Highlight
Apply a swipe of highlighter in the space left below the eyes and above the blush dots. Be caref
ul that it does not melt into the blush or overlap the blush at all.
Step 3: Blend
Once you’ve applied both blush and highlighter, start blending with your fingers or a sponge. Blend in the outward direction to achieve a flawless gradient.
Step 5: Set your sunset blush
Once all the blending is done and you are satisfied with the look, lock it up with a setting spray! And, voila, a summer-fresh, luminous look is all ready to be flaunted.
Quick tips for a great look
- As the look aims to achieve a natural gradient akin to a sunset, blend well and ensure no harsh lines are left. Try to achieve a seamless ombre.
- Choose your blush shades with thorough consideration. Pick shades that go well together and will appear as two distinct hues even after blending. That will help bring in a better gradient.
- You must skip the contour and bronzer as too many shades on one part of the face will not look appealing.
- Seal in the makeup look with muted eyeshadow, well-defined eyeliner, and a lip gloss.
