India’s only hairdressing awards — Indian Hairdressing Awards, bring forward the best craft and talent in hairstyling from across the nation. This year, 12 finalists as the country’s crème de la crème will compete for the coveted title. Their journey will reach each Indian household through a five-episode reality show, starting March 29.

This year, the jury panel consists of film-maker and fashion icon, Karan Johar who is joining the hair styling world with these awards. Along with him, L’Oréal Professionnel Global Colour Ambassador, Min Kim will also grace the panel.

The theme chosen for the Indian Hairdressing Awards 2024 is “Meta-morphosis” which represents real transformation. This edition was announced in August 2023 and received over 100K entries.

Format for the Indian Hairdressing Awards 2024

89 regional finalists, chosen from over a thousand entries, competed on technical skills. As a result, the top 12 hairstylists came to light to compete in the finals. These 12 will finally be competing in the mega-augmented L’Oréal Professionnel salon.

The format of the show will include three challenges to test the skill and creativity of the hairstylists. Through colour, cut and styling, hairstylists will have to create looks that are bold, elevated and out-of-the-box and convey the ultimate freedom of self-expression.

Judges and consumers will score the looks. The contestants will ultimately compete before a live audience at the Grand Finale. The winners will receive a trip to Paris as well as an opportunity to enhance their skills in Le Visionnaire, the L’Oréal academy in Paris.

Mathilde Barthélemy-Vigier, General Manager of L’Oreal Professionnel, says “The skill of Indian hairstylists is now at par with global hair artists’ and with the 2024 edition of The Indian Hairdressing Awards, we wish to celebrate their infinite talent and potential.”
