Dyson has launched its first hairstyling product range, Chitosan. This collection, named after the hero ingredient Chitosan, highlights Dyson’s commitment to redefining hair care with science-backed solutions.
What is Chitosan?
Chitosan is a complex macromolecule derived from the cell walls of oyster mushrooms. Dyson uses this natural ingredient in its range to provide a flexible, all-day hold while maintaining natural movement and shine. Unlike traditional hair care products that use simple polymers to lock hair strands together, the Dyson Chitosan range offers a more advanced solution that avoids the “crunch” often associated with styling products. It is suitable for all hair types and performs well even in high humidity.
Dyson Triodetic Technology
At the core of this range is Dyson’s trademarked “Dyson Triodetic” technology. This proprietary innovation ensures that each product in the line delivers the promised flexible hold without compromising on the hair’s natural movement and shine.
Luxurious and Sustainable Packaging
Dyson’s new Chitosan range also stands out with its luxurious and high-tech packaging. The deep purple bottles, which house the Chitosan Pre-Style Cream and Post-Style Serum, feature a uniquely designed pink pump dispenser. This dispenser, visible through a clear cap at the base of the bottle, doubles as a precision applicator, dispensing a consistent amount of product to minimise waste. In line with Dyson’s sustainability efforts, the packaging is refillable, and consumers can purchase recyclable refill cartridges.

The Dyson Chitosan range includes two key products:
Chitosan Pre-Style Cream
The Pre-Style Cream is available in four variations that are suitable for different hair types: Straight to Wavy (Light and Rich Conditioning) and Curly to Coily (Light and Rich Conditioning). With Chitosan, this formula also has premium oils such as grapeseed, castor, and argan oil, beeswax, and heat-protectant properties. The Pre-Style Cream is designed to prime and condition hair, reducing frizz and enhancing shine.
Chitosan Post-Style Serum
The Post-Style Serum, a lightweight product, repairs surface damage with amino acids while providing a weightless, flexible hold. Enhanced with Hyaluronic Acid, it effectively fights humidity-induced frizz, leaving hair soft and shiny. This serum is also suitable for all hair types, making it a versatile addition to any hair care routine.
A New ‘Connected’ Beauty Tool
In addition to the Chitosan range, Dyson is launching its first ‘connected’ beauty tool, the Dyson Airwrap i.d. multi-styler and dryer. This beauty-tech device integrates Bluetooth technology for a more personalised styling experience. It features intelligent heat control, ensuring temperatures stay below 302°F to protect hair from damage.
The i.d. curl feature automates the curling process based on user profile data, offering a tailored styling experience. The Airwrap i.d. is available in two versions—one for Curly to Coily Hair (T3-4) and another for Straight to Wavy Hair (T1-2)—and comes with 19 versatile attachments, making it suitable for all hair types.
