When we view the hair trends at fashion weeks, we see that the shift from polished perfection to expressive, wearable beauty defines the season. In a candid conversation with Vidhi Arya, Arnav Chikhalkar – Salon Director at BBLUNT Juhu, highlights how Indian salons reinterpret global runway trends through the lens of texture, shine, individuality, and real-world practicality.
Fashion weeks have evolved far beyond showcasing couture! They now act as a cultural barometer for what’s next in beauty. This season, the shift is clear: high-maintenance perfection is giving way to individuality, ease, and hair that feels real.
“.This season, India’s top salons highlight a clear shift from overly polished perfection to expressive wearable artistry.” says Arnav Chikhalkar. “Hair today is about personality, it should look like you, just elevated.”
The Rise of ‘Perfectly Imperfect’ Hair Trends at Fashion Weeks
Across global runways, natural texture is no longer being tamed, it’s being celebrated. Think undone waves, diffused curls, and air-dried finishes that embrace movement rather than control. This shift also reflects changing consumer behaviour, where low-effort styling is becoming aspirational.

“Salon experts agree that overly structured hairstyles are taking a backseat.” explains Chikhalkar. “Instead, expect undone waves, air-dried textures, and fluffy curls. Runways globally are embracing individuality, with models showcasing their real texture rather than uniform styling.”
In India, this trend carries added relevance. With humidity often disrupting styled hair, these relaxed looks are both practical and fashion-forward.
These styles are not just aesthetic, they’re functional. “Low-maintenance, humidity-friendly styles offer a practical yet fashionable choice.” he adds.
Glass Hair & the Return of High Shine
On the opposite end of the spectrum lies glass hair: sleek, mirror-like, and ultra-reflective. It’s a look that signals precision, luxury, and intentional styling, often paired with structured silhouettes on the runway.

“Glass hair, sleek, mirror like strands that reflect light, is emerging as a key statement.” says Chikhalkar. “Indian salons note this look pairs beautifully with structured couture and evening wear.”
“Sharp middle parts, polished low buns, and sleek ponytails with a wet finish are dominating more formal looks.”
The emphasis on shine is not accidental. It taps into a broader beauty narrative where healthy-looking hair is synonymous with luxury.
“Shine has become a marker of luxury and health,” he notes. It’s less about stiffness and more about how light interacts with the hair.
Soft Cuts That Move
Haircuts are also becoming softer and more adaptable. Instead of rigid shapes, stylists are favouring movement-driven cuts that frame the face while remaining easy to manage.

“Bobs, soft swing cuts, and feathered fringes. These styles frame the face while remaining versatile and easy to style.” notes Chikhalkar
“Face-framing layers for versitality, wispy bangs for softness, and mid-length lob cuts for universal appeal. They are gaining popularity because they’re universally flattering and easy to style,” says Chikhalkar.
These cuts align with a growing demand for styles that transition seamlessly from day to evening—an essential in fast-paced urban lifestyles.
Sculpted Yet Wearable Updos

Updos, traditionally associated with formal occasions, are being reimagined with a modern, architectural lens. The focus is on clean lines and structure, but without losing softness.
“We’re seeing twisted low buns, modern chignons, and braided structures are all evoling,” he explains. “Think face-framing layers for versatility, wispy bangs for softness, or mid-length “lob” cuts for universal appeal”
A New Language of Hair Trends at Fashion Weeks
At its core, this season’s beauty direction is about balance between effort and ease or polish and personality.
“From glossy, sculpted hair to softly blurred makeup, the upcoming fashion weeks will showcase a new beauty language one that blends runway drama with real-world wearability. Indian salons are not just following global trends; they’re reshaping them for diverse skin tones, hair textures, and cultural contexts.” he concludes.
