The International Beauty Industry Awards (IBI) 2025-26 celebrates creativity, innovation, and technical excellence across the global beauty, hair, makeup, and fashion industries.

Bringing together some of the world’s most talented creative professionals, the awards recognise outstanding work across multiple categories. Entries are evaluated on artistic vision, originality, technical execution, and overall impact, making a semi-finalist spot a significant achievement.

This year, Indian hair artists Seema V Jerajani and Shine Janatharanan have secured places in the semi-finals, further spotlighting Indian talent on the global stage. Their nominated collections, Tapestry and Iris, have been recognised among the competition’s standout creative works.

Seema V Jerajani’s Tapestry Celebrates Beauty Through Sculptural Hair Art

With Tapestry, Seema V Jerajani transforms hair into avant-garde couture sculpture, blending fashion, architecture, and storytelling into a striking visual narrative.

The collection explores texture, structure, and movement through dramatic architectural forms. While each look has its own unique identity, together they create a cohesive story inspired by the beauty, strength, and elegance of a life woven from many experiences.

Highlights of Tapestry:

  • Avant-garde couture-inspired hairstyling
  • Sculptural and architectural silhouettes
  • Intricate textures and dynamic movement
  • A celebration of beauty, resilience, and elegance
  • Artistic storytelling through hair design

Jerajani describes the collection as a reflection of “the layered beauty, strength, and elegance of a life beautifully woven.”

Commenting on her selection, she said:

“Participating in the Global Championships each year is a celebration of creativity and professional excellence being recognised on an international stage. It inspires me to return year after year, to challenge myself, grow as an artist and to bring Indian hairdressing talent on the world map.”

Shine Janatharanan’s Iris Explores Truth, Memory and Emotion

In contrast to the structural artistry of Tapestry, Iris takes a deeply personal and introspective approach.

Inspired by the human eye, the collection explores the emotions hidden beneath the surface, from love and forgiveness to pain, memory, and truth. Through visual storytelling, Janatharanan presents the eye as an honest reflection of the soul.

Themes explored in Iris:

  • Human emotion and vulnerability
  • The symbolism of the iris and the eye
  • Love, hate, forgiveness, and remembrance
  • Truth beyond words
  • Emotional storytelling through artistic expression

The collection is rooted in a poetic narrative:

“The soul’s quiet confession. In the iris, colours collide like secrets. They can love. They can hate. They can forgive… or remember forever. Words can lie. But the eyes? Never.”

Reflecting on her latest nomination, Janatharanan said:

“I’ve been a two-time finalist at IBI in 2023 and 2025, and I’m excited to share that I’ve been nominated again as a semi-finalist this year. Fingers crossed and hoping for the best. I’m grateful for the journey so far.”

Indian Creativity Gains Global Recognition

The selection of both Seema V Jerajani and Shine Janatharanan as semi-finalists at IBI 2025-26 underscores the growing presence of Indian hair artists on the international stage.

While Tapestry and Iris differ in inspiration and execution, both collections showcase the creativity, innovation, and artistic excellence emerging from India’s professional
