Chanel's new e-logo - a shield against counterfeits

Luxury meets innovation as Chanel takes a bold step in the fight against counterfeit beauty products. The French fashion house has unveiled a new e-logo. It is designed to help consumers easily identify authorised online retailers for its fragrance and beauty lines. Read along to learn more about Chanel’s new e-logo.

This sleek, round black emblem features the iconic Chanel name alongside “authorised retailer” in crisp white text. It’s already rolling out across major e-commerce platforms like La Rinascente, Sephora, and Marionnaud. Chanel’s new e-logo ensures that shoppers can confidently purchase authentic Chanel products that meet the brand’s rigorous quality standards.

Why this move?

Counterfeit cosmetics are a booming black market, with fraudulent sales costing the industry a staggering US$ 5.4 billion annually. Fake beauty products are not just an economic threat — they pose serious health risks, as they often contain harmful ingredients. Moreover, as they do not have any quality controls in place. They are often poor quality products that bring disgrace to the brand’s quality and repute. Social media has only fuelled the problem, making it easier for “dupes” to blur the line between imitation and deception.

Chanel is no stranger to safeguarding its legacy. The brand has already implemented anti-counterfeiting measures across its fashion and accessory lines, from authenticity plates in handbags to serial-numbered labels in ready-to-wear garments. Now, it’s bringing the same level of security to its beauty range.

“This e-logo allows consumers to easily identify whether Chanel cosmetics are being sold by authorised partners, thus ensuring that they are buying authentic products that comply with all quality standards,” the brand stated.

The way ahead

The initiative is just in its initial phase, with plans to expand to key global markets. To reinforce its legal standing, Chanel has also filed trademark applications in multiple countries, including the U.S., France, Germany, Singapore, and Indonesia.

For luxury lovers, this means one thing: a safer, more secure way to shop Chanel beauty online. With this digital stamp of approval, Chanel continues to set the standard — not just in luxury, but in trust and authenticity.
