On International Women’s Day, the spotlight often falls on inspiration. But for Dr. Vijaya Salunkhe, Business Consultant – Beauty & Wellness, the real strength of a women entrepreneur lies in systems, structure and strategic clarity. In a candid conversation with Priyanka Parshurami, Dr. Vijaya Salunkhe explains why confidence, clarity and structured systems define the success of every Women Entrepreneur in beauty.

Having worked closely with salon founders across India, she believes the biggest barrier is rarely capability, it is confidence. In many Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities, women grow up internalising limitations that quietly restrict ambition. “Once a woman truly believes in herself, there is no stopping her,” says Dr Vijaya Salunkhe. With structured processes in place, a women entrepreneur does not merely manage operations, she scales them.

Dr. Vijaya’s consulting philosophy centers on SOP-driven growth. Operational clarity transforms reactive management into strategic foresight. Instead of firefighting daily issues, founders begin anticipating them. Staff attrition, inventory gaps, or appointment fluctuations become manageable when systems are aligned and reviewed consistently. Prevention, she notes, is the real sixth sense.

In a creativity-driven industry, financial discipline becomes differentiator. Trend-based procurement without budget planning disrupts cash flow and creates stress. Structured procurement cycles, consumption analysis, and demand forecasting ensure stability. For a women entrepreneur, creativity must stand on the foundation of financial control.

Her advice to salon owners seeking sustainable growth is precise: put processes in place, align systems, and review performance regularly. If retail sales are inconsistent, build consultation protocols. If bookings fluctuate, refine scheduling systems. And, if profitability feels uncertain, analyse service-wise consumption instead of relying solely on revenue figures. Growth becomes intentional when it is measured.

Delegation, too, requires structure. Assigning tasks without review weakens accountability. Clear expectations, defined timelines and consistent evaluation turn delegation into performance management.

Over the years, Dr. Vijaya has witnessed a powerful transformation. As women begin reading their businesses through data margins, conversions, retention their confidence strengthens. Decisions shift from emotional to strategic.

Her Message This Women’s Day

Her message this Women’s Day is clear: beauty is not just art; it is enterprise. When a women entrepreneur understands both equally well, scaling becomes a natural outcome.
