Mike Taylor’s men’s collection – Freedom is for men to choose to painting his nail, wearing make up and ditch the gender norms. Priyanka Parshurami, from Professional Beauty India, gets you a quick sneak peek into this collection.
Freedom, a latest men’s collection by Mike Taylor, aims to reflect personal expression in style. And the opportunity to explore length, texture and finish in a high impact collection. Men’s hair is longer, coloured and perfectly styled with facial hair completing the look. The collection also portrays and focuses on the freedom for a man to choose to paint his nails, wear make-up, mix up gender norms or ditch them altogether.
Here are a few looks from the Freedom collection.
1. 2023 Rave Nation
Raves are back and so is the one length bob cut for a man. late 80s early 90s saw all of the cool kids with the one length bob, center partings and free-flowing haircuts. Feathered ends and clean edges give the style a loose but tailored finish . The image is also completed with unisex jewellery and guy liner.
2. Shaggy Mullet
Masculine long hair with a gentle finish. Loads of texture and layers to bring the hair to life for movement. Blow-dried lightly with a vent brush and a little light gel for hold. Added a small amount of paste to accentuate the texture. The look is topped off with a moustache and an open collar and pearls, all very retro and on trend. A cool laid back style and a glimpse back to 80’s Hawaiian Magnum P.I.
3. Braids
It’s not just Snoop Dog and Afro hair having plats anymore. Corn-rows and tight scalp braiding has crossed ethnic lines and being embraced by all cultures and genders. Besides, with post Covid trends on men growing their hair, braids provide an opportunity to really embrace different cultures and musical tastes of 2023. This look is finished by a sharp fade that accentuates the braids and a line out beard that is crisp around the edges.
4. Punk 2023
Generation punk never dies, it’s a music and lifestyle culture expressed through hair and fashion. Bleached hair with crazy colour added so the hair can change as the seasons do, this fire engine red was a statement to stand out in a busy crowded world. To keep the style up to date it is also razor cut into a mullet with a sharp faded step on the sides.
