India’s First Baby Spa Opens in Hyderabad

The unique spa for infants promotes stress relief and early development through hydrotherapy and massage.

Hyderabad has made headlines by introducing India’s first-ever spa exclusively designed for babies. Catering to newborns up to nine months of age, this one-of-a-kind spa aims to promote physical and cognitive development through specialised therapies.

The concept revolves around providing babies with a calming environment that mirrors the feeling of being in the womb. Overstimulation can hinder a baby’s learning and attentiveness; hence, this spa offers a much-needed balance through relaxation techniques.

The facility includes hydrotherapy, baby massages, and guided movements all conducted in a controlled aquatic setup. Infants are gently fitted with patented floatation devices that support their heads and allow them to float freely in warm water. The goal is not to encourage standing or swimming, but to let them experience soothing buoyancy.

Swathi Kolla, CEO of the Baby Spa, highlights that the water-based activities help ease muscle tension, improve mobility, and stimulate brain activity. “This setting helps babies relax and absorb more without the stress of sensory overload,” she explains. “Parents have already noticed improvements in awareness, immunity, and overall growth.”

Inspired by a concept introduced by Laura Sevenus in South Africa in 2005, and later in London, this approach integrates gentle aquatic exercise with baby massage. According to experts, such practices can lead to better learning, faster development, and a happier disposition in infants.

With this new spa initiative, Hyderabad has taken a progressive step towards early wellness solutions ensuring that even the youngest members of society get a serene start to life.
