The recently unveiled Louis Vuitton La Beauté is a curated makeup line crafted with Pat McGrath. The “elevated makeup line” blends artistry, heritage, and exclusivity, setting a new benchmark in ultra-luxury beauty. Read along to know more about it.
Louis Vuitton has officially unveiled La Beauté, its first makeup collection, marking a bold expansion into ultra-luxury cosmetics. The launch reinforces colour cosmetics as a key growth avenue for high-end fashion houses and strengthens LVMH’s dominance in the luxury beauty space.
Driving the vision behind La Beauté is none other than Dame Pat McGrath, who now serves as Creative Director of Cosmetics. While her appointment has only just been announced, her influence is evident throughout the line’s concept and execution.
A curated collection of luxury
The debut offering includes 55 lipsticks, a nod to Louis Vuitton’s Roman numeral LV. Additionally, there are 10 balms and eight eye palettes. These products are described as “objects of desire,” echoing the artistry, trunk-making traditions, and cultural vision synonymous with the Maison, but with McGrath’s distinctive creative twist.
The packaging elevates the experience further. Designed by Konstantin Grcic, the gilded cases showcase LV’s signature codes, with the iconic LV flower taking centre stage. Each piece is intended not just as makeup, but as a collectible objet d’art.
Timelines and market impact
The collection will first launch in China on 20 August. There will then be a digital pre-launch on 25 August, with a full global rollout shortly after.
Louis Vuitton’s move comes at a pivotal moment. With luxury fashion experiencing a slowdown, beauty remains one of the fastest-growing segments of the global luxury market. By offering an entry point for aspirational shoppers—those who may already own a Louis Vuitton bag but want a more accessible piece of the brand—the House is reinforcing its relevance and broadening its consumer base.
