MODERN BARBER CHALLENGE DELHI, 2026

1. Category wise Guidelines:

 Fade Categories:
  • Must start from zero / skin 
  • No minimum length specs for transitions
  • Skin-fade can be done preferably using Foil Shavers
   Hair Tattoo:
  • Judging Focus 
  • Clean execution 
  • Innovation 
    Non – Fade Categories:

     Must show clear, significant transformation

   
Perfect Scissor Skills:

     In the Creative Scissors category, showcase your traditional barbering techniques using only scissors, the old school way 

 

2. General Guidelines:

  • Focus on Precision: Ensure clean lines, symmetry, and sharp finishes, especially in fades and beard styles. 
  • Be Creative and Trendy: Stay up-to-date with modern styles while adding your own unique touch. 
  • Keep it Neat: Cleanliness matters, both in your workspace and final look.  
  • Refine the Details: Pay attention to fine details in styles like beard grooming and hair tattoos. 
  • Make It Wearable: Aim for trendy yet practical styles that can be recreated in a salon (apart from the long beard which is exempt from this criteria). 
  • Length Specifications: The fade should start at 0.5 mm or lower on the sides. For the Beard & Moustache category there should be a significant change in look.   
  • Models and Tools: Bring your own model and tools. Ensure your model’s consent and availability. You’re responsible for these arrangements.  
  • Tool Usage: Use what suits your style. Generally, all tools allowed but review the category specifications for any exclusions.  
  • Product Use: Bring your own products. Styling products can include pomades, gels and sprays. No dyeing or colouring. 
  • Prohibited Items: No hair extensions, wigs, or artificial hair enhancements. 
  • Mood Board: Mandatory, bring a mood board with references that reflect your style and vision. This will help the judges understand your concept better. Can be on phone or up to A3 size in physical format. 
  • Conduct: Maintain professionalism. Unsportsmanlike behaviour may lead to disqualification. 
  • Health & Safety: Ensure all tools are hygienic and safe for use. If the model gets nipped or cut, your points will be deducted. You must use first aid where needed. 
  • Scoring: In increments of 0.5. 
  • Negative marking*Negative marking for any of the following:  If there are nicks or cuts on skin or rashes from harsh use of tools & safety or hygiene is not maintained  
  • Winners: Win a category 3 times and then you retire from that category as one of the “Master of Masters”.  
  • Dress code: no brand / salon reference on clothes. Each participant will be given a MB Challenge t-shirt. 

3. Judging Criteria:

  • Blending 
  • Creativity 
  • Health and safety 
  • Mood Board – replication accuracy 
  • Precision and Technique 
  • Styling 
  • Symmetry  
  • Final look   

4. Prize Pool:


🏅 Participants have the opportunity to win from a Rs. 25,000 prize pool per category, featuring Rs.15,000 in cash and premium gifting rewards.
