Professional Beauty India triumphs at the Exhibition Excellence Awards 2020

by Arun Shirishkar

Appreciating and acknowledging the hard work put in by the Professional Beauty India team in the past year, the Exhibition Showcase has declared it as the recipient of The Leading Show Wellbeing, Beauty 2019 at the Exhibition Excellence Awards 2020.

The Exhibition Excellence Awards are an initiative to recognise the Indian exhibition industry and its contribution towards the country’s economic growth. Professional Beauty India has been recognised for its tireless efforts and declared The Leading Show Wellbeing, Beauty 2019. Despite of the challenges thrown in their path due to the pandemic and lockdown, Professional Beauty India has emerged a leader in supporting and guiding the spa and salon industry through these difficult times.

Speaking about winning the award, Vikas Vij, Managing Director, IDEX, said, “It’s humbling to receive the award for consecutive years especially when each year the competition gets tougher both from local as well as international organisers entering the market. In what has been the toughest year for us as a business it means a lot to our team to get this recognition for the work they put in building and growing the show from both an exhibitor and visitor point of view and this will drive us to keep those standards up.”

The award took into account the contribution made by Professional Beauty India in 2019, which includes hosting two complementary shows: CIPI and Aesthetic Medicine India alongside Professional Beauty.

“We have developed strong relationships with both buyers and exhibitors going back to our launch in 2012 and have consistently partnered with the beauty and wellness community to deliver real value and innovation not just for a small segment but the entire community and it was no surprise that 2019 saw record visitor numbers with over 20k trade visitors in attendance,” Vij added.

Sailing through turbulent times

Professional Beauty India has managed to keep itself relevant during the lockdown by adapting itself to and wholeheartedly embracing digital platforms. It sought to provide unstinting support to the industry through educational and knowledge-based sessions. Vij said, To date, we have organised over 300 live sessions via Facebook, Instagram and Zoom with an audience size of over 2.5 lakhs and have received tremendous feedback for not being stopped by the pandemic and delivering great content and networking opportunities which have supported the industry in its fight to comeback stronger. During this pandemic we also managed to launch a new digital magazine, Professional Beauty & Hairdressers Journal which launched on 24th December as part of commitment to our beauty and wellness community.”

While the digital efforts of providing the industry with knowledge and skills continues, the Professional Beauty team is eager to get back on the exhibition grounds. “What I’m looking forward to most is getting back to organising large scale exhibitions! The thrill and adrenaline of building a show from scratch and over a number of days hosting tens of thousands of visitors with the latest product and education innovations is so exhilarating and I’m missing that the most. The ability to bring thousands of people together to connect, do business and be inspired is something very fortunate that we in the MICE industry get to be part of and I look forward to being able to do that again, very soon,” Vij concluded. The Exhibition Excellence Awards have been supported by Ministry of Skill Development, Ministry of Tourism, Ministry of MSME, NSIC, ASSOCHAM, PHDCCI, Indian Exhibition Industry Association, Indian Exhibition Services Association, Indian Industries Association, UFI, IAEE, Indian Convention Promotion Bureau, Event & Entertainment Management Association, IESA, AFECA, TCEI, PIOCCI, SACEOS, TECA, IETA, RUEF, & ASME, in its previous editions.
