Rochelle Chhabra: “It is a spectrum of colours for a spectrum of people!”

Rochelle Chhabra, Head – Professional Division Streax, HRIPL, talks about their newly launched Spectrum Collection in an exclusive interaction with Kanishka Ramchandani.

Here’s an excerpt from the conversation with Rochelle Chhabra:

Tell us about this collection. What was the idea behind it?

As the name suggests, this collection is all about the spectrum of colours. In this particular collection, we have tried to lay emphasis on our innovative new products, while incorporating the international trends and tweaking it for Indian sensibilities.

Because at times what happens globally is not exactly what the Indian market wants.

Every woman wants to look different and beautiful. So, in the Spectrum Collection we have tried to use strategic colour placements with a minimalistic approach, and worked out how you can add that X factor to your everyday look.

We are ensuring that salons and hairdressers get to stimulate their creativity with our colours, which are vibrant yet classy and elegant. This is how we envision it translating onto the salon floor where women across all age groups can try this.

It is a spectrum of colours for a spectrum of people!

How has the training module of Streax Professional evolved over the years?

We have been the pioneers in mega shows. Over the years, we have been doing these mega shows, and they have turned out to be the stepping stone to education. Because once you showcase a collection, it becomes aspirational.

Since the salon stylists want to learn these looks, it then gets translated into a masterclass with one-on-one training or demo. So, we have different formats that we follow and that is how we execute the education part.

We have also launched the Artistic Colour Training, a two-day programme, because education plays a very important role for the fraternity.

Gone are the days when this profession was passed on from generation to generation. Now, it is a profession to recognise, flaunt and express your creativity. So, let’s empower them by educating them in the right manner.

Which colours or products are in the pipeline now?

We have launched six holiday shades and added two funky shades to our existing range. Then there’s our Yellow Delete shampoo. There are more products coming out in care, texture and styling, as per the requirement of the industry. We try to ensure that we come out with innovative products. Our main aim is to make Streax Professional the brand of preference for salons.

What advice would you like to give to aspiring salon owners, especially when it comes to collaborating with brands?

Hairdressing is a beautiful profession. The hair is your canvas. You can create a lot of looks by means of colour, by means of cuts, by means of styling.

I think of hairdressing as an extension of the hairdresser themselves. Like each stylist has their own personal touch to everything. At the end of the day, it’s very satisfying for them when they see their clients happy and when they see their art.
