National Skills Network (NSN) India, recently organized an online skills competition ‘Skillfest 2023′ in collaboration with Commonwealth Educational Media Centre for Asia (CEMCA) to promote skills and hidden talents. Here’s an insight into this global platform for beauty.

Skills are the backbone of personal and professional growth. Skill training enhances a person’s expertise and gives them a competitive edge and better opportunities in this rapidly changing and highly competitive world. Not just so, the skilled personnel consequently form the backbone of a strong economy.  At the grassroots level, Skillfest strives to draw attention to this crucial aspect.

Skillfest aims to promote awareness about the growing significance of skills. Further, it also aims to recognise talented individuals from diverse backgrounds, irrespective of age, gender, education, or social standing. “This online skills competition hopes to provide a global platform for participants to showcase skills, gain recognition and also take pride in their talent,” says Madhuri Dubey, founder, National Skills Network.

It provides participants from Asian Commonwealth countries a platform to showcase their skills. The eight countries that took part in Skillfest are Bangladesh, Brunei Darussalam, India, Malaysia, Maldives, Pakistan, Singapore, and Sri Lanka.

BEAUTY AND WELLNESS CATEGORY

From agriculture to fashion, Skillfest 2023 encompassed ten distinct categories where participants could compete. Within the Beauty and Wellness category, participants demonstrated skills like hair styling and haircut, nail art, and makeup. Gunjan Taneja, Director of Bharti Taneja Alps Beauty Group, was the esteemed judge for the Beauty and Wellness category.

While speaking to Vidhi Arya from Professional Beauty India about the essence of the competition, Gunjan Taneja said, “The main beauty of this contest is that if you are skilful, if you know how to do makeup, nail art, nail extension, hairstyles, etc., you’re already one of the winners. This competition proves gender, language, culture, money, city, country, or state can not bind skills. The competitors were from all over India — from various cities, languages, and age groups. Some could not even speak English or Hindi. All of them had the zeal to participate and showcase their talent. And, all participants did very well.”
