Gauri D. tells us what transpired in the makeover sessions while also touching on the topic of men’s skincare and grooming.
In the beauty industry, men’s hair styling is quite popular, however, men’s skincare is still lagging. JJ Savani is an international stylist and a beauty industry professional making efforts to normalise skincare and hair care in men.
He recently worked with famous rapper, King, at the Warren Music, as King kicks off his music tour. On this occasion, we conversed with JJ Savani about his experience while working with King and more. Here’s an excerpt of the same!
- What is the importance of makeup and men’s skincare?
I believe that skincare is a great preventive tool for combating stress. It’s amazing for combating signs of ageing, such as wrinkling and even daily breakouts. Skincare is a great way of improving confidence and wellness whilst obtaining a youthful glow. When combined with corrective make-up, skincare is vital in reconstructing an overall image.
- How was your experience working with King?
Working with King and his team has been nothing but an amazing experience. Everything from the initial consultation stages with his professional team, to the down-to-earth conversations was amazing. We made a real connection during our meeting. It is great to see that King takes pride in his overall health, beauty and image as an artist.
- With this collaboration, what do you plan to achieve in the long term?
With this collaboration, my main aim is to elevate the importance of men’s skincare and grooming within the industry. I want to concentrate on a larger picture and not just within India. A lot more celebrity artists are taking more pride and understanding the importance of men’s skincare. Male grooming is a way to elevate overall image. Acceptance can be seen slowly but surely.
- How will this collaboration impact the men’s skincare and makeup industry?
The importance of this collaboration is beyond what I could have imagined. Working with industry-leading celebrities such as King only proves the importance of our hair and beauty industry. His mass influence opens up the barriers to acceptance within the general population. More and more people will see King following skincare and haircare, and they are more likely to approach it themselves. People will reach out to their local practitioners and stylists for skincare and makeup treatments; not just for their big days but also for their monthly/daily routines when visiting a salon.
