8th World Wellness Weekend 2024 sees record-breaking participation

The 8th edition of World Wellness Weekend saw record participation, with 34 million views and 9,688 venues from 155 countries registering on wellmap.org, available in 18 languages. The event, running from September 20-22, included professionals from the hospitality, tourism, fitness, spa, and beauty sectors collaborating to promote wellness. Read along to know more.

The 8th edition of World Wellness Weekend took place from sunrise in Fiji on September 20 till sunset in Maui on September 22. This represents a 54% rise from 2023’s total of 6,300 venues, with more than one thousand new sign-ups in just the last four weeks leading up to the event. All participating venues are registered through wellmap.org, available in 18 languages. It enabled them to appear on an interactive map with geolocation features. This platform allows venues to highlight their activities and contact information. Ultimately, inviting locals and visitors to join enjoyable, free, and inclusive activities with friends, families, and colleagues.

The World Health Organization continues to highlight the growing issues of obesity, physical inactivity, loneliness, mental health challenges, and insufficient sleep. With this, professionals from the Hospitality, Tourism, Fitness, Spa, and Beauty sectors have united to promote awareness of healthier lifestyles and champion the #WellnessForAll initiative. This concept of wellness extends beyond just clients and members to include employees, local residents, and underserved communities

  • 54% more venues on wellmap.org. 1.000 venues signed up in the last 4 weeks.
  • 34 million estimated views (+100% vs 2023) with 700 mentions across TV, radio, print, and online. There were 10,000 posts on social media
  • First ever 4-day celebration with Tomoko Kozuma, WWW City Ambassador in Karatsu (JAPAN). They  organised Yoga Fest on Monday 23rd Sept with the support of the Town Hall
  • First ever World Wellness Wedding (WWW) with Liliana Ferreira, Country Ambassador in Portugal exchanging vows during WWW
  • For the first time, wellness activities took place in Antarctica, Cuba, Nicaragua
  • First-ever participation of two iconic Circus companies: Phare Ponleu Selpak Battambang – The Historical Cambodian Circus and Phare, The Cambodian Circus Siem Reap
  • There was a 15-second promotional clip about WWW projected in all MULTIPLEX cinemas in Argentina
  • First ever “dog WWWalk” with David Lloyd Club Manchester in UK. The DL club members walked their dogs together as part of their daily exercise
