Ace designer Vaishali S, for the latest edition of Lakmé Fashion Week X FDCI 2023 launches an innovative, sustainable, and ultra-modern collection for the women of today.
BENEATH is a ravishing hair and makeup collection from Lakmé Salon. Ace designer Vaishali S collaborated on this for the latest edition of Lakmé Fashion Week X FDCI. Moreover, the event took place on March 10, 2023, at the Jio World Gardens, Bandra Kurla Complex. It featured an innovative, sustainable, and ultra-modern collection for today’s women.
The collection is a continuation of Vaishali’s signature style by showcasing wearable art. She meticulously recreates natural elements through textures, fabrics, and unconventional silhouettes, while remaining true to India’s heritage weaving traditions.
The hair and makeup design not only complemented the designer’s vision but also as an extension of this marvelous collection. The experts at Lakmé Salon also draw inspiration from various elements from the ocean – Conch, Coral, Kelp, Octopus and Wave. Richa Mishra, a National Gold Medalist in Swimming, was the showstopper. The media, influencers, buyers, and partners alike were impressed by their jaw-dropping collection, which took inspiration from the ocean and nature.
The hair colour includes different shades of blue on a layered bob that enhances the ocean wave inspired colour. The whole look with the beach waves makes the cut and colour even more dramatic.
The Octopus look is particularly for the long and lustrous Indian hair. The colour palette includes shades from the burgundy colour family created by using the freehand balayage colour technique. Whereas, the haircut is a long plunge that frames the face and brings out the natural softness in the hair.
Inspired from the kelp, the hair colour exhibits different hues of copper. They put together the haircut, called Shredded, keeping in mind the free flowing yet rooted nature of the Kelp.
The conch-inspired haircut is a long plunge that frames the natural features. The color palette includes shades of mushroom blonde, gold, and light brown.
Inspired by the coral reefs of the ocean’s ecosystem, the experts at Lakmé Salon have created a haircut called shredded. The haircut will enhance the breath-taking red hair colour.
The makeup looks included ultra-glossy finish skin, watercolour translucent shadow, heavy mascara, full glossy lips, high sheen highlighter and contour.
Pushkaraj Shenai, CEO & Wholetime Director, Lakmé Lever, said, “For 23 years in a row, Lakmé Salon has been in the business of beautifying the country by making fashion from the runways of Lakmé Fashion Week accessible to our consumers. As part of our larger endeavour to Beautify the Future, we at Lakmé Salon have sustainably created the outstanding ‘BENEATH’ collection. Bringing sustainability to the forefront, each look in the BENEATH collection has been carefully designed by National Creative Directors and the Backstage Heroes at Lakmé Salon & Academy to bring alive Vaishali S’ wearable art designs”.
Ace Designer Vaishali S added, “I have always followed my own instincts when it comes to my work, which has enabled me to carve my own niche in the industry. Showcasing 3 consecutive years at Paris Haute Couture Week has been a scary but very rewarding leap of fate but I am glad to say that this eventually propelled the brand to another level and made me discover other levels of creativity and workmanship. This collection depicts my discovery of the underwater world and also myself by diving into the unknown”.
Says she, “ The looks curated and designed by the team at Lakmé Salon aligned with my vision for the collection and became an extension of each outfit. Watching the Lakmé Salon team bring alive the looks with the hair and makeup and accentuated the final designs. I look forward to seeing the salon consumers experimenting with and sporting these looks,”
Additionally, haircut and colour collection inspired by the BENEATH show, will be available at 470+ Lakmé Salons in three weeks.
